Science Fiction?
When I was going to grade school, there was no evidence of planets existing beyond our solar system. In the past 10 years, astronomers have discovered "Class M" planets in more and more solar systems surrounding our's. "Class M" are Earth-like planets that can support humanoid life. Now, most scientists believe in advanced civilization beyond our solar system instead of a scarce few. Alpha Centauri, our closest neighboring star system has at least one "Class M" planet.
Scientists still say 2001 A Space Oddesay is the most scientifically accurate movie ever made about contacting intelligent life beyond our solar system.
