film-school Considering film school in Oregon?

Hello,

I'm considering going into a film school and I'm mostly restricted to the upper Portland area. I'm curious if you have any suggestions of what I might do regarding school. I think this is the best in this area: http://www.pdx.edu/theater/requirements-major-film Also any idea what I could be studying between now and then?

I think it's quite possible I can start writing some more low-budget short films and sell again. I wrote and directed one before. Also, for careers, I would be interested in aiming towards a fulltime job doing film. That leads me to asking if most film jobs are based on contract and is that usually enough for surival? What are the salaries in most cases? I don't think I have any plans to go to Hollywood, but I'm curious about the northern west coast and possibly San Francisco in the upcoming years. Thanks!

Depends what job you want. I'm sure there is activity in the upper west, but I'm not an expert in that area. When I started, I lived in PA and worked on smaller market projects for about 150 per day. I was my own boss...

Eventually I wanted to produce. So I moved to NYC and now Los Angeles.

If you're just getting started - check out some projects in your area. You would give yourself a real edge if you intern and gain the experience.
