choosing cameras

Hi,

I'm pretty sure this topic has been discussed many times here and everywhere else, but my circumstances are different from what most people are usually under. I'm wondering whether I should get a Canon GL2 or a Sony VX2100. The VX is more expensive, but it would be ideal if I could save a bit of money and get the GL2 and still be able to do the same things. I've heard that the VX shoots better in low light but that's probably not one of my concerns since I'm not doing anything in regards to weddings or anything in that matter.

I am shooting films, so there would be on-set lighting and the works, etc. That will not be too much of an issue. I'm just curious as to the video quality of each of the cameras (in contrast) and audio capture (unlikely to use an external mixer/recorder, but instead hook up mics).

My question is: Should I spend a few extra hundred bucks and get the Sony? or can I save some money and get the GL2 and expect the same end-result as I would with the former?

Thanks ahead of time
