CF card speed question

Would one need a 90MB/s CF card if a Canon XF100 is set to 50MB/s mode?

Or would a 60MB/s work just fine?

There's a big difference in price, just among SanDisk cards alone?

$560 = 2x $280 (320 minutes of space on) SanDisk Extreme Pro Flash memory card - 64 GB (2x 160min)
$280 = 1x $280 (160 minutes of space on) SanDisk Extreme Pro Flash memory card - 64 GB (1x 160min)
$380 = 2x $190 (320 minutes of space on) SanDisk Extreme - Flash Memory Card - 64 GB (2x 160min)
$190 = 1x $190 (160 minutes of space on) SanDisk Extreme - Flash Memory Card - 64 GB (1x 160min)
$280 = 2x $140 (164 minutes of space on) SanDisk Extreme Pro Flash memory card - 32 GB (2x 82min)
$140 = 1x $140 (82 minutes of space on) SanDisk Extreme Pro Flash memory card - 32 GB (1x 82min)
$176 = 2x $87.95 (164 minutes of space on) SanDisk Extreme Flash memory card - 32 GB (2x 82min)
$88 = 1x $87.95 (82 minutes of space on) SanDisk Extreme Flash memory card - 32 GB (1x 82min)

The transfer rate of those SanDisk cards is given in MegaBytes per second (MBps). The Canon XF100 has a 50 Megabits per second (Mbps) mode. There are eight bits in a byte, so the 60 MBps card has a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbps, more than nine times the transfer speed you need (in theory, at least).

Short answer: yes, the 60 MBps cards will be fine.
