Canon t3i or Sony alpha a55

I'm a noob (good way to start) and I want to buy a camera and keep the budget close to $1000. I've been looking at the canon t3i and the sony alpha a55. What do you guys think? Appreciate the help.

There are tons of threads about buying cameras here..and the a55 has been mentioned..depends on your budget , how srerious you want to get into filmimg and what you want to do..search around this part of the website and you will see plenty of opionions.
