Are there ay specials settings for downloading from a Cannon XM1 to a G5?

I want to download the movie into Final Cut Pro 5.1......

The computer does not register that the camera is even plugged into it

and I can't find anything in the camera manual...

Any ideas?

It's a standard PAL DV device, so I would try a different firewire cable and possibly a different firewire port.

Remember to check that the camera's in playback mode.
