Does anyone know of a web link (or can someone post a complete reference here) of the complete list of camera filters and what they accomplish (ie: Diffusion, Neutral Density, Sky Light, Ultraviolet, Haze, Cross Screen, Infared... etc)

Thanks!

Infrared filter can be a big pain depending on your camera, it will basically be shooting black and require long exposure times for a decent image (~30seconds). I got a photo camera converted to infrared for a couple hundred bucks, it works almost normally (you have to adjust your exposure). Used it a lot for model photography because of the cool IR effect.

Note - 650nm, 720nm and lower are false colour. Above 850nm CCD (and I think CMOS) chips shoot monochromatic.

That said, depending on the quality of your camera ebay is a good source for super cheap filters.
If your not on a tight budget I'd recommend B+W and Hoya which are far superior.
Just remember a lot of this stuff can be done in post with good software.

I was thinking of making an IR light gun to mount on my camera out of IR LEDs and some 9v batteries. Then I could shoot in full dark without anyone seeing my lights and be able to shoot some of the honest reactions of people at the halloween ride at which I work.
