Legacy Film Festival 2011
Brighton & Hove, U.K
Closing Date – 31st July 2010
Website: http://www.legacyfilmfestival.org.uk/
‘Legacy Film Festival’ is a celebration of the achievements, contributions and issues of black minority and ethnic people around the world. Its focus is largely, but not solely on that of the African Diasporas as part of Black History Month in October.
This film shorts submission is open to all regardless of race and gender, although films must contain a strong contribution by people of black or minority ethnic descent and/or reflect their lives.
The theme of this year’s festival is IDENTITY.
Two things sharing every attribute are not only similar, but are the same thing – Leibniz’s Law.
The concept of sameness has given rise to the general concept of different identities, be it personal, social, national, ethnic, racial etc. So is Identity just whatever makes one definable and recognisable, possessing a set of qualities or characteristics that distinguish one from the other? How do you perceive identity?
Submissions for this year’s festival (Brighton, East Sussex, UK, October 2011) are now open and run until 31 July 2011. There are two age categories; ‘18 and under’ and ‘Over 18’ with which you can submit your film and this can include; drama, documentary, comedy, animation or experimental film. The films should be no longer than 15 minutes maximum.
All films will be assessed and those chosen will be screened at an event during the Legacy Film Festival in October 2011. Film-makers will be notified of their selection no later than the end of September.
Please download the submission form from http://www.legacyfilmfestival.org.uk/ for further details and specifications and email submissions@legacyfilmfestival.org.uk with any further queries.
