CALL FOR ENTRIES: 10th LES Festival of the Arts – Short FilmFest' 05 - NYC

New York, NY --- The 10th Annual L.E.S. - Lower East Side Festival of
The Arts is pleased to announce a CALL FOR ENTRIES for its
invitational, non-competitive film festival of short features,
showcasing films and filmmakers with relevance to the Lower East
Side/East Village. The event is presented by Theatre for the New City,
Crystal Field, Executive Director.
The 10th annual L.E.S. - Lower East Side Festival of The Arts will
take place May 27th, 28th, 29th, with the Film Fest occurring on
Saturday, May 28, from 12noon until 12midnight.
To demonstrate the creative explosion of the Lower East Side and the
area's importance to culture and tourism for New York City, a score of
stars and over 100 performing arts organizations, independent artists,
poets, politicians and filmmakers will join forces in and around
Theater for the New City at First Avenue and East Tenth Street. This
three-day, indoor and outdoor festival of theater is organized by
Theater for the New City and a coalition of civic, cultural and
business leaders and is FREE to all New Yorkers. Last year, over 3,000
people attended.
LES FilmFest ENTRY GUIDELINES AND ELIGIBILITY, 2005.
Thematic Requirements:
1. Subject matter of films must pertain to the Lower East Side; or
2. Filmmakers are from or live on the Lower East Side, or consistently
showcase their films at Lower East Side venues; or
3. Filmmakers represent an ethnic community on the Lower East Side and
wish to showcase ethnic/cultural issues or the diverse population of
the Lower East Side (Jewish, Black. Irish, Pakistani, Bangladeshi,
Hispanic, Polish, et al.)
Technical:
1. Run time of 7 minutes to 30 minutes.
2. VHS (not Super VHS) tapes; or
3. DVD (or DVD-R, not DVD-Plus).
Submission Materials:
1. No entry fee.
2. Deadline for submission: Friday, May 6, 2005.
3. Entrant's name, address and the production's title and running time
must be on each DVD/videotape (printed or typed clearly).
4. We cannot guarantee the return of entries, but we will try.
5. Please include a current phone number and/or email address.
6. We welcome prior participants, but we are seeking "new" entries for
our 2005 showcase.
Final Deadline for Entries is Friday, May 6, 2005.
Programming decisions will be made by May 20th, and we will notify all
filmmakers promptly.
