In the 1990's, street skateboarding was on the rise. It even overshadowed the once dominant type of skateboarding "vert" as the preferred style. As street skating was quickly progressing, so was a small town called Wasilla Alaska. Having been the fastest growing city in the United States. The surge of skateboarders came very quickly.

As the popularity in skating grew. So did the number of skateboarders in the streets. That's when a conflict was born. The interest of these kids began to interfere with the lives of the local community.Youth were being cited by local police for skateboarding in parking lots, on driveways and sidewalks, even in their own school lots! Because of the sport's growing popularity, the need for a skate park quickly became apparent. But the City showed little interest. And as the complaints piled, a law outlawing skateboarding was thrown on the table. That's when the skateboarding community took action to prove they are apart of the community, and their here to stay
