Breakin' the law, breakin the law!

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. It may put 3D in its own corner where it belongs/deserves to be on its unique merits.

It will be interesting to see what he does with it. I wonder if current digital projectors can handle it or there will be new hardware requirements for cinemas.

That's likely to be a monumental obstacle to overcome. If the digital projectors that have been installed in cinemas over the last few years can't handle it, I don't see much of an incentive for cinema owners to upgrade if people are going in their droves to see 3D films using the current technology… maybe we'll all end up paying £15 for a bag of popcorn. (I learnt a couple of months ago that the paper bags cost many times more to produce than the popcorn inside them - which is why no one gives a shit that they get filled to the brim and you end up spilling popcorn all over the floor.)

That makes sense.

I also agree with you completely about the projectors. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

It will be interesting to see the outcome-I know a couple of people who went to see Avatar 3D at 24 said they felt nauseous at times-would speeding up the rate increase that chance?

I wonder if having more fps will help eliminate the sickness I get from watching 3d. I remember trying to watch Avatar in 3d and having to leave the theater because it was making me sick. But I still watched Avatar at least 2 more times in 2d at the theater. Ha... Actually liked the 2d better because the picture was much brighter and nicer looking in 2d. The 3d with the glasses were so dark. I got to admit the 3d effects were pretty mind blowing and cool. I also can see 3d effects being more of a gimmic and somewhat of a distraction from watching films if not done right.
