editing Blurry transfer to storyboard in Windows Movie Maker

I am currently making a short film in another country and am working with a Canon Vixia HF10 and Windows Movie Maker 2.1. I´ve converted all the files from MTS to AVI, and when you play them on the computer or even after importing them into WMM, they look crystal clear. However, when I drag them to the story board, they all of a sudden look all pixelated and blurry on play back. All the settings have been set to 16:9 to match the recorded clips but for some reason the transfer to the storyboard distorts the picture. I´ve also tried finalizing the film to see if it regularizes, but the final product still looks choppy. Could anyone help me with this problem? I apologize if there is an easy answer in the ¨help¨section of movie maker, I only have access to it in Spanish!

Thank you!
Kim
