Any of you guys got a blog? I'm thinking of starting one, somewhere I can put my short stories, book reviews, my obsession with 80s horror movies, that kind of thing ;)
I don't know how to go about it though, I've heard of wordpress but I don't know how techy you need to be to be able to use it, I might be better off with this kind of thing http://website.1and1.com/free-website-builder

Any thoughts?

Any other advice about blogging in general will be very welcome too, how often etc.
 
wordpress is free and popular blogging platform. If you later decide to transition to your own hosting/domain it can be easily done

Then maybe you can learn some of the inner-workings of blogging without having to make a full commitment.

Your best move would be to participate in something like this, build up a following, while working on your own site.

Weekly updates seem okay for amateurs... but to get any real traction you are going to have to probably post daily.

WP lets you easily integrate social media sharing and is definitely the way to go out the gate.
 
If you have a LinkedIn account, your WordPress blogs will automativally upload to LinkedIn from WordPress. There is a Sci-Fi and Horror group you may want to join on LinkedIn as well where writers, filmmakers, fans, and college professors meet as members.

I'm not on LinkedIn, the sci-fi and horror group sounds good. I've had invited but never really understood what LinkedIn is for.
