Blackmagic Production Camera 4K

hey friends. a couple days ago i was discussing with a friend about cameras, i told him that i need a professional one for shooting like a boss and NOT a simple camcorder. he told me to look for one that has 2.8k or 4k @ 10 bit. i don't even know what that meant but i did my research and came across this:

it shoots in ultra HD and has many cool features but the price stings a bit. are there any other cheaper CINEMATIC cameras that shoot in ultra HD? what do you guys think? :)

i'm so sorry for the spam, i just had one more question and i didn't wanna start a new thread.

what do you guys think about the GoPro's? is their "first-person" shooting the only way that these cams work? i have lots of stuff in mind that i wanna shoot in POV (not porn ). anyone maybe link me up? the videos on youtube are confusing me little bit.

Depends what you want to do. As Ajed said, it's good for extreme sports and underwater. But it is good for other stuff - e.g. holiday videos, getting a camera in a small space, putting a camera in a dangerous position, using a camera on a cheap quadrocopter.

But due to it's rather extreme wide angle lens (you can correct for this somewhat in post, but I believe the image gets slight degraded, and it's far from ideal) - see how warped the sides of the image are here, the lack of viewing monitor (meaning you can't frame your shots, unless you get an external monitor, but that's get pricey) and the lack of manual controls (you can't choose how it focuses the lens, you can't choose how it exposes the image) it's got fairly limited use in serious narrative filmmaking.
