Azden SGM X directly to mini or Azden SGM1X+XLR to mini adapter cable?

Will using an XLR microphone with a XLR to mini adapter cable into an HV30 completely lose the benefit of XLR? Does it make more sense just to use a non-XLR microphone?

Edit: sorry if this is something that has been covered before. A lot of the seemingly relevant topics were a little heavy on the technical jargon and I've been admittedly a bit lost.

They are essentially the same mics with different output connectors. The -1X will at least allow you to connect to cameras with XLR audio input without the need for an adapter. Also, the -1X uses AAA batteries which can be purchased almost anywhere whereas the -X requires LR-44 batteries which are harder to find at the last moment.
