Awesome new documentary about people with disabilities and attendants

The Joy of Aides is a new documentary exploring the relationship between people with disabilities and their aides. The film maker, Eva Sweeney, a Pasadena resident, was born with a condition called cerebral palsy, which means that she cannot walk, speak, or use her muscles in conventional ways. She uses a power wheelchair to get around and spells out what she wants to say on a letter board. She requires assistance with everything from eating to communicating.

Currently Sweeney is making a documentary exploring the relationship between people with disabilities and their aides. It will focus on her unique view on how aides should be hired and directed as employees. Sweeney shows how one become friends with aides but also maintains the balance of a professional relationship. The most important thing is mutual respect which many people with disabilities and their aides don't have. This documentary will feature an awesome comedian and playwright who will talk about her own experiences, Sweeney's exploration of relationships with her aides, and you will hear from the people who have worked for both women

The footage is currently being shot. The next phase of this project is editing, creating DVDs, and getting the word out. A Kickstart fund has been set up to raise money for the project, as the goal for this documentary is to look and feel professional with the help of a professional editor and creating professional DVDs.
For people who don't know, Kickstart is a website that helps people fund raise - the trick is, you have to reach your goal to get the money. The fundraising goal is $2,000 and there are 47 days left to reach the goal. Please spread the word or donate! http://aidedoc.weebly.com/ or thejoyofaides@gmail.com
