Audio question

I made a rough cut of my movie on a dvd for the guy who is gonna do the music for it.
It's weird though. On the rough cut of the dvd the audio is out of sync a little bit. the files on my computer aren't out of sync.

Also to add to this question. on the rough cut. some shots seem to be cut off or a little bit to the left. for example. the dvd menu just says "play" with the other section "scenes" cut off. you can only read the letters "SCE"

I know it's a rough cut and only meant for my friend to add music but i would like to know why the dvd is a tad bit out of sync. and not the files on my computer.

Hey, been there, done that, got the T-shirt.

Check your export/conversion aspects; there may be an off-set buried in a sub-sub menu.

You may also want to check your own viewing settings at the same time; maybe you're the one who's out of sync.

It's a glitch from ages ago, but - check down as far as you can to look for "empty" space in either the audio or video at the very head of the file. Way back when the file to DVD convertor would read the audio and video files separately and then mate them up again. I had a file that was slightly off every time I burned a DVD until I realized there was a teeny-tiny space in front of the audio file, so when they mated up on the DVD they were out of sync. I filled the gap and "Violá!!!" I was in sync.

Others may have better ideas.

I hate these little glitches, and when you finally get the answer after banging your head against the wall until it's squishy, it's usually a "Well DUUUHHH!" and you want to bang your head some more.

Good luck!

Thanks double A.
You talking about going back into vegas? or the dvd conversion program it self? I'am using wondershare video converter ultimate.
We rendered the Vegas files into an MP4 then changed them to mpeg 2's and those are now VOB files

If nothing in your settings are causing the problem look to your conversion process. You should be able to slim it down; why MP4 to MPEG2 then to Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate? Seems like there's at least on extra step in there. Can't you burn a DVD direct out of Vegas?

If you add in a countdown and 2-pip, then your music guy should be able to sync it himself if he has to; unless of course the sync drifts throughout the film rather than being consistent
