Applying Theatrical Principles?

I'm looking into buying 'The Theatre and it's Double' the book by Artaud on surrealim in theatre and the theatre of cruelty.
Just wondering if anyone has tips on using this principles outside of theatre and in film.

Personally, and this is just my opinion, Artaud is a load of rubbish. For theatre and for film.

There are a lot of difficulties with using theatrical techniques on film. I would imagine that there are some pretty good 'Acting for the Screen' books knocking about, wouldn't one of them suit you better?

Well, to each their own. I quite like him, I just enjoy experimenting with the principles and stuff.
In theory yeah, they would be better, but because I like the principles I'm wondering if there's a way to translate them off of stage and on to screen.

Hmm...I'm not sure...

The point about theatre of cruelty is that it's supposed to make theatre a visceral experience for the audience, and I'm not sure that Artaud's techniques could be portrayed on screen. But possibly you can find a way to adapt them if that is your desire...
