I'm not promoting their site, just curious if anyone here has put together a wix.com website for their film, production or portfolio. Their templates look pretty good.

I know a gaffer that has a site built on wix; the free one with the wix branding stuff. They seem pretty clean as website templates go.
I've seen a few sites that look like Wix sites, but with subscribed accounts missing the branding. Can't say much more than that though.
On a similar topic, anyone checked out https://about.me/ ??
No endorsement here either, just curious what people thought. Considering making one as a central hub for everything else.

I think I've built a free site using pretty much every popular free website building tool.
Wix is cool, but flash sites take more time to load for some, and they're not supported on iphones so I'm not really interested.
Weebly is a good choice; so is Webs.com. Oh yeah, wordpress if pretty great, if not the best of the pack.
I use their free subdomains, but if I ever created a real site with a real domain, I'd probably use squarespace; fantastic customizing options, good support; and great features.
If you're a cheap bastard like me, you can try free domains like dot.tk, .co.nr; .co.cc; /co.tv
.co.tv comes with a sitebuilding tool which is frustrating to use sometimes, but it works.
