anyone excited for the fall horror movie lineup?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm looking forward to seeing The Thing in theatres soon (although I am nervous that it will be shitty and not live up to the original John Carpenter film). Anyone looking forward to some "new" horror movies?

I love John Carpenter's version, but I'll give the remake a chance. Can't be any worse than the abomination that was The Fog remake. *shudder*

I'm more looking forward to seeing Paranormal Activity 3 though. Not sure why I like these films so much, but they sure give me the chills. All my friends hate them, but at least my wife is a fan too.

Having seen the latest trailer for "The Thing", I'm looking forward to it less. I'm not really feeling the CGI... I'll still see it, fingers crossed for something really good.

The trailer for "Paranormal..." looks good, seems to up the ante on part 2. I, for one, prefered the sequel to the original, so I'm definitely up for this one.

One other is "Piranha 3DD". I love Alex Aja's remake and this is the kind of formula you can't really go too wrong with. Here's hoping, at least.

That is a risk, of course. However, Carpenter's version was itself a remake of a 1951 movie The Thing From Another World, which was produced by Howard Hawks, who was the Steven Spielberg of his day. I'm sure when Carpenter's version came out fans said, "I hope it lives up to the original." (It did. Arguably surpassed it.)

But the movie was not as a big hit. It actually did poorly at the box office from what i remember. However when it hit cable thats when it started to get a following.

As a kid growing up on this new thing they called cable tv...this movie was the big one..it scared the hell outta me! i could not watch it till i was older...and it still scared me.
