am I doing something wrong?

I've been stressed lately, but I've had a chance to step back and breath a bit, and now I'm getting into the mindset for this other project. My problem is this...this project is using a panasonic 3ccd comsumer grade hd camera which outputs avchd files...so far I have a little bit of footage loaded onto the laptop, and I can see that the files are there, but I can't seem to open them. I'm using Sony Vegas Platinum 8, and I've been trying to research the compatability of the panasonic avchd with sony platinum 8 and I haven't been able to find an answer. I read some stuff that makes it seem as though it's not compatible and some stuff that seems as if it is. Has anyone tried to open panasonic avchd in sony vegas platinum 8? If so, did it work? I'm not sure if there's something I'm doing wrong, or if it's the version of vegas I'm using.

If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if I was wigging in my emergency threads...I was stressed out, but i'm more calm now cause I'm relatively caught up. lol

I've only loaded once so far, but it was done with a usb. after I loaded the software that came with the camera (HD writer) the camera owner gave me the cord and I pluged it in, and since it was a couple weeks ago I can't be certain, but I think that's what it was. I don't know why, but I can't seem to open the footage

I just read something disturbing about HD Writer. Do you know what version you installed? I am reading several horror stories about this software. 2.0E has an audio bug.

It's too bad your NLE couldn't recognize the camera so you can capture it in there directly (or could it?). What model of Panasonic was it?

Check your PMs.

"It appears that it's not easy to obtain copies of HD Writer - especially annoying for those of us stuck with version 2.0, which has the unfortunate characteristic of producing SD mpeg2 downconversions with essentially unusable audio tracks."
