watch Aerial miniature helicopter shooting in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Hello everyone. This is my first post here.

Earlier this year we had an opportunity to shoot in Chiang Mai - the largest and most culturally significant city in northern Thailand.
What an amazing place! So many monuments, crowded streets, kind people, so alive.

We are using miniature, RC helicopter equipped with 3 axis, stabilized camera head(also radio controlled with live view).

Shooting with 5Dmk2 and 16-35, 24-70 lenses.

Amazing. I'm suprised how smooth it is. Looks like cineflex footage. I would love to see a behind the scenes and learn more about this. I need this in my next film.

Beautiful! I agree, it would be great if you could disseminate the knowledge of your design so all us indie filmmakers can benefit :D

Oh, and I WANT TO GO TO THAILAND!!!!!

Cool. I have a scene I'd one day like to shoot that would require a rig like that; have always wondered if it'd be possible.

Oh... My... Gosh.. That is so incredible. You NEED to sell this product.
You only sell your services right? Like, you can only rent one of these, not buy.
Correct?

This is fantastic. I wish I could afford it. I do have a friend that has friends that into RC planes and helicopters - maybe I can ask them nicely :D

This is getting really popular in high-end wedding films right now. The first I saw of it was a couple of years ago. There are people who do this stuff for hire if you need it for your film. All it takes is money.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it so much.

The helicam is custom designed and built. The is no "ready to fly" solution for this kind of equipment. It took me over three years to get there and the project is still evolving.
Even if you manage to buy one you will soon find out it takas a lot(and i mean it:) ) of work to get a perfectly working "tool".

We offer our services just like some of you noticed. You can always drop me an email if interested http://www.revoflite.com/contactus.html

The helicopter that has been used here is electric powered, 1.8m rotor diameter, equipped with stabilized 3 axis camera head. Max payload is 5kg.
We mostly fly with 5Dmk2, EX1 and Z1.
Right now we are developing another jet turbine engine powered with double the payload for Red One, Epic, Alexa and so on.

Here is and old clip that shows some behind the scenes just to give you an idea http://vimeo.com/6840133

I'm going to go out on a limb here in the interest of my fellow forum members. This is looking more and more like a free classified advertisement.

Google " RC aerial video" or anything close and you'll see all the resources out there available for hobbyists or service for hire.

Nice video, but far from unique.
