a film on boredom getting you bored..hows that

i have been trying to watch this american indie from the mid 90's for the last hour or so and i have just very recently realised that because this film is on boredom it actually got me seriously bored. To all u genius filmbuffs around here is that normal, or am i too dumb to understand cinema?
