    Wireless audio suggestions

Lol true I'm really thinking of sticking to a boom mic at this point. Thanks for the heads up the model!

    Wireless audio suggestions

I hope double posting is OK. That forum post basically told me what I already suspected. I need to get a boom or shotgun mic instead. And I've wanted to. But the stuff I've been shooting my cast sorta has to wander around a bit. I think I just need to train them better to stay within range of...

How can I write this scene so it does not come off as forced?

Would the not being forced rest upon the actor(s) more than the script?

    Wireless audio suggestions

Thanks for that, reading it now. I didn't want to go "cheapest" I can get. Cause I know it'll be more headaches at the end of the day. I'm looking for quality vs price I suppose. Like "hey this is $200 but sucks this is $500 but sounds good this is $1000 and is amazing" I'd opt for the $500 one...

What are good cameras for filming short films?

I may get some flake for it, don't know, but consider the high-end point-and-shoots from Canon. I have a sx40 hs that I personally believe does amazing video. 1080/720 24/30fps. Newer models do better fps at those definitions. The only downfall is it has no audio input (if that's what you're...

    New to reality

I got some experience shooting interviews and confessional type setups. Lighting can really really be a pain. I wouldn't green screen. been there and without "the right stuff" to do it, it always turned out really crappy. I find you need a pretty large room, all green, to get a decent effect...

    Wireless audio suggestions

I figured after the new year I'm going to invest in a wireless audio system. My future endeavors will benefit greatly from it. I currently use the old lapel mic to stand-alone audio recorder system but syncing multiple audio tracks, for me, is just plain annoying. Maybe I need to spend more time...

    yeah that's a good idea.

    Screenplay approaches...

I start out by creating my locations and characters first. I go general then I get very detailed. Even going as far as mapping out things that would probably not be in the final script or video. I even draw out maps for areas and so forth. Everyone has their own method, I find this one works for...

A producer's role in short films

He's pretty much right. A producer, imo, takes what needs to be done and arranges it so it can happen and/or it gets done. The producer of my two documentaries was largely responsible for setting up our shooting locations and helping me decide who went to each one. I didn't give myself a...

    audio leveling

Totally understandable. I guess I should have included that this is, more so, for outside the professional field. That is, too, to say and assume that professional tools are going to be quite expensive and outside of a budget. I have some idea of what's being discussed in this thread but it's...

    audio leveling

I used a program called Camstasia and it has a really nifty audio leveling feature. It's not perfect but it stops my super highs and super lows. But good advice going on in this thread!

split my existing video (youtube question)

Well both are up now. One has 90,000 views (up for 1.5 years) and the other has over 200,000 (up for 11 months). My reason is for more exposure on Youtube searches and, honestly, revenue. I'm working on new content but it's been difficult with the birth of my first child earlier this year.

A little presumptuous but... (reality filming)

presumptuous [pri-zuhmp-choo-uh s] Spell Syllables Synonyms Examples Word Origin adjective 1. full of, characterized by, or showing presumption or readiness to presume in conduct or thought, as by saying or doing something without right or permission. 2. unwarrantedly or impertinently bold...

split my existing video (youtube question)

I've had some (to me) damn good luck on Youtube with my two documentaries. But I want to maximize my exposure and revenue possibilities as much as possible. So my question is more of a "is this ok? and "would you do it?" type question. Each docu is shot in segments. With each person having...

    audio leveling

Just wondering what you guys do or recommend in post to keep/have/make all your audio even and level? Programs, tips, tricks, and so on. I'm looking to "remaster" the audio from my first film/documentary and this is pretty much the only issue.

Need lots of FAST storage for editing?

I know I'm late on this but thank you for the input! Even before reading I started piecing together (online) a similar setup and plan on buying it in Feb.

A little presumptuous but... (reality filming)

I had this posted elsewhere but it didn't gain much traction. Posting it here for further input. Over the last few weeks I've had the pleasure of being involved in an up and coming reality show. The show has nothing to do with what I would call my "specialty" (paranormal) but the segments we...

    how did you start out?

My first dumb little short was made when I was around 12 with two of my sisters. We'd break out the family camcorder and come up with movies to make. The first one was about stalker (yes at 12(and I played the stalker)). Nothing much after that until I got into the hobby I'm into now. It took me...
