    Adding campfire flickering in Resolve

You could take actual fire, use it as a luma matte to control a secondary to make the saturation/gamma/gain change. It is the sort of thing that should be fixed in a compositing program more likely.

Is there a special 24 fps cinematic monitor for film editing?

Nope! The only real monitor issue you could run into is that computer screens wont accurately display fields. However, this is not an issue with 24 fps material.

Best way to get good green screen effect?

If you have your green screen right up on talent, it will not ever look right no matter how you light it. The green screen distance from subject is a very valuable part of any composite, as is compositing. You said lighting is 70% of it and that is incorrect. At the end of the day can you do a...

Best way to get good green screen effect?

I don't agree that lighting is 70% of it. Yes, you want to match your green screen elements to your plate elements, but green screen separation is in my opinion just as important. If you have everything spilling everywhere you might as well not set up a green screen in the first place and just...

How to get into advanced visual effects

Something that I say less to burst your bubble, but more to get you to think about what you enjoy doing... Have you ever really read the credits to a VFX heavy film? Its longer than most of the comics they are based on. Even a movie with "practical" effects like American Made have laundry lists...

watch Ink Inc. Tattoo Web Series

Over the course of 5x10 minute episodes the only bit that took more than 3 takes was a gag that had a lot of timing/physical comedy that happens in episode 3. Only 3 of the tattooers are not actors. Apprentice and Val are both actors. I think tattooers have to put on a client face everyday, so...

    watch That's Wife

Thanks! My codirector and I work at a vfx studio and we were really just banging through and making this in our downtime. Writing and being weird became our top goal over compositing and the stuff we always have to deal with. However, I guess we did take the Design pretty serious and made some...

    Wire Removal Tutorial with HitFilm

Wire removal is totally a situational problem. Simple "wire removal" tools work super well sometimes and other times you can't get around a patch and restore situation. I work as a Flame artist and am always happy to answer or help with people's projects.

    watch That's Wife

I mean, I thought the 4x3 aspect ratio, the VHS inspired look and the sitcom plot would articulate this is a send up of TGIF.

    watch That's Wife

My writing/directing partner and I were in a bit of a lull at the VFX studio we work at, so we decided to make and design our own sitcom, network news programming, commercials and products. Its a weird project, but fun! Not sure if the embed code will work, but here is a link...

Question about using Action Essentials gunshot VFX.

A compositor will know how to make a gunshot look right. Its not about the programs- at some point some degree or artistry dictates success.
