Should I go ahead with a movie shoot with no PSM?

If any one tells you that you need a full crew to film a short then they are absolutely wrong. The life of an indie filmmaker is a struggle in the beginning. The only thing you need is yourself and the will to succeed at all cost. I once thought that i needed a full crew to film, but after...

Directing your 1rst feature is never cake!!!

Yes, i wrote the script. Took me 2 months to write. I did not expect to write the best script just enough to push me to start. Crew bailed except for 2 of my friends. Unfortunately they had to go back to school just a month after i started filming and could not give me their time, which i...

Thank you! This was my 1rst attempt at film making when i started in 2011. Its amazing how i can now look at this and think of all the things i would have done completely different. I'm going to post my 2nd project i did in 2011 right after this abstract short. It was a promo that i was hired to...

Pulling off a decapitated head shot.

Idea! If all else fails use a 2 shot. Do one over the shoulder shot of the un decapitated person showing the face of the decapitated person at a close up. Use latex and sfx, blood ext. this way you can hide the rest of the body in sheets within the depth of field. Anything else from back side...

Directing your 1rst feature is never cake!!!

Yep! Its actually a bit compelling how people tend to be. They sit back and wait for you to do something. And when they see that you are solid that is when they want to come back and help. Be strong, if they don't want to help you from the getgo, then pull the chariot yourself to the end...

Directing your 1rst feature is never cake!!!

Sfoster, a lot happened because of the sacrifice i made to complete the feature. For things to change we must do something different in our lives. And let me tell you, that "something" is stepping out of a comfort zone. Believe me your heart will tell you when you are ready to tackle your...

CLASSIC "OLDBOY" vs. SPIKE LEE's REMAKE

Let Me Out is what they should have named it Ugh! Yes the Americanized Hollywood version of "Let the Right One In"! What a bummer of a remake. Couldn't even stick to the original story because of the sensors. I hope they don't ever try to remake "Head Hunters". I swear I will gather a petition...

    Stabiliser or shoulder rig first?

Agree!! Its definitely a workout with the RED. You would be surprised on how inexpensive rigs are now a days. A lot of companies in India offer great replicas for a fraction of the cost. Save the rest of the $$$ on a couple good prime lenses and a good zoom.

CLASSIC "OLDBOY" vs. SPIKE LEE's REMAKE

OK so i'm a big Chan-wook Park fan especially with his classic vengeance movie "OLDBOY". And I'm also a Spike Lee fan and enjoy seeing his visions on screen. But COME ON!!! OLDBOY? Serious?! Yes, i do believe that Spike's will look killer especially knowing of his style and cinematography skills...

    Stabiliser or shoulder rig first?

Ofcourse True, That all depends on the size of the camera and how much counter weight you have behind you attached to the rig.But then again it all depends on the Cam and rig. I use the RED and ARRI on a shoulder rig but the cam sits directly on my shoulders and the battery pack serves as a...

    No-Budget ADR Booth.

True true, unless you some how mount a 7 inch monitor to the back of the box within the foam, but then it can become tedious. Probably a bit to small to bounce audio back, but still a slight mission. Your idea for the box i personally much like especially when you have to record audio on the...
