Which comes first, the script or the budget?

Thanks, all of you. Please let me elaborate the present dilemma. First, it's an Israeli film, which means very low budget (in US terms). I encountered an amazing true story about chain of events that involves unbelievable coincidences. So, though I don't have previous experience, I decided to...

Which comes first, the script or the budget?

In feature films, does the budget dictates the script, or is the script being determined the budget?

In what frame-rate to shoot for final in multiple standards?

Are you referring to 35mm film shot and/or post produced in USA, or Europe, or both? Are you referring to editing and post producing at 29.97fps and than converting to 24fps, or 25fps, or both? What are those circumstances? What conversion problems are you referring to and how do you suggest...

In what frame-rate to shoot for final in multiple standards?

Post production experts are highly experienced and skilled in conversions between 24 and 25 frame-rates, especially in Europe and other PAL countries (like Israel). The conversion to the various standards will be done by the post experts.

In what frame-rate to shoot for final in multiple standards?

The movie is intended to be distributed in present day facilities, in modern CDP. The past is bygone.

In what frame-rate to shoot for final in multiple standards?

Thank you. That was a preliminary thought. I'll rent a pro cine camera. The 7D will shoot simultaneously for possible inter-cats, from somewhat different angle and perspective. It seems that shooting in 25p is the preferred option. However I'll consult a local post production studio to be...

In what frame-rate to shoot for final in multiple standards?

Since it may be broadcasted in both Europe and the USA, it may be broadcasted in both 1080p30 and 1080p25. My question wasn't about what people notice, or not. My intention is to present a copy of the proper format to each potential broadcaster/screener (if used the proper terms). I prefer to...

In what frame-rate to shoot for final in multiple standards?

I'm about to shoot a documentary. It will be presented to HD TV stations in both Europe and USA and also to film festivals. AFAIK, conversion from any standard to any other one can be made in post production. Thus, the end movie will be copied in few formats (1080p30, 1080p25, 1080p24). My...

Few questions concerning gear for a documentary

I'm looking for volunteers (in my country). So far none showed up. This film will be made, this way or another. It will be made with whatever means I'll have at any given point in time.

Camera for a documentary on a budget

Thanks. I'll look into the various technical sound standards. There may well be at least two final versions, one for HD TV and on for cinema theaters. There may be even 3 final versions, 1 for cinema theaters, 1 for European TV and 1 for USA TV.

Few questions concerning gear for a documentary

My budget is close to zero, say, about $1,000 for the entire enchilada. I can rent the needed pro gear (for the first part of the interviews). I checked availability and prices and I can afford it. For the 3 interviews, I don't need a sound cart. For audio I need a couple of mikes...

Few questions concerning gear for a documentary

I just browsed few local rental companies web pages. Pro video and audio gear of all flavors are available. (There is movie and TV production industry in Israel). For the first part, 3 interviews, 3 shooting days, I can afford renting full pro audio and video + lighting gear. With careful...

Camera for a documentary on a budget

Should there be funding, the producer will deal with it. Else, it's me with rented gear. When the time will come, I'll find out the local rates.

Few questions concerning gear for a documentary

Thank you. It is so and I'm well aware of it. For the first part (the interviews, or testimonies), there is no funding and budget. I'll hire pro audio gear, however, unless I'll find a volunteer experienced sound man, I'll have to do it on my own. I simply don't have the dough to hire any...

Few questions concerning gear for a documentary

Thanks. 1. Brand names are the same all over the world. 2. Market-wise and TV-wise, Israel belongs to Europe. 3. Nagra, Schoeps and Sennheiser are European companies, Sanken is Japanese company. 4. Brand names without specific models is of only little use for me.
