    When to re-write

If somebody is newer, they can benefit from professional analysis in large amounts. It's a little harsh to tell somebody to just start over, when you haven't seen anything.

Working on my first big Short

We're actually still writing it, but we have almost everything for the set ready. If we can't get good enough content to make in 45 minutes, we'll shorten it for sure.

Working on my first big Short

LOL We didn't want to come up with a name that was too obvious. Earl Ton is easy to guess if you think of it, but it's not super straight forward. As for the length of the film: We have quite a few things we need to go into in this film. 8-10 minutes wouldn't provide enough time.

Working on my first big Short

It's still classified as a short I'm pretty sure. It's not long enough to be considered a feature.

Name some successful directors that didn't go to film school

I think it all depends on the situation. I'm not going to be going to film school because I can't afford it. I will be going to a community college to take some classes as a fall back plan. They also offer some film classes that I'll be taking, so that I can learn some technical stuff and get...

Working on my first big Short

I could have done that...but then again, it's like 5 in the morning. We have the audio. We're just working on getting the lighting. We have some connections, it just depends on their current projects and stuff.

Working on my first big Short

Near the end, you begin to realize that there is something wrong with Glen AND Earl Glen is Schizophrenic. Earl ISN'T real. Look at EARL TON backwards. It's NOT REAL. Throughout the film, Glen is portrayed as normal while Earl grows crazier and crazier. The ending shot is a zoom out of...

Working on my first big Short

It's going to be about 45 minutes long. I've got the connections to cameras, editors, me and my buddy are writing/directing it, we have possible actors. We just need to secure locations, finish writing, and make sure we have a full team. Title: Earl Ton I. Story: Earl Ton and Glen have...

Killing off the lead and bringing them back for the climax?

I laughed really hard at this...lol I then started laughing even more when they said it was a drama/HORROR Anyways...back on topic. You can't kill the main character and then have her/him disappear for a whole act completely, just to have him/her return with some crazy transformation...

    Dialouge

There's so much good advice already given that I don't have much to say. I'll just tell you something super cliche and stuff. Keep writing. Practice makes perfect. (:D) Hash that shit out until you get what you want.

Question about scene transitions and dialogues

Do something like that, because as somebody else above said, there are way to many sluglines. I got really confused as to what was happening.
