How many shorts before a feature?

Thats all relevant experience for a feature though. I think you're missing one good point that was made, that you can take a simple but effective concept, with a minimal cast and you don't have to spend like a year on it. When you said you had that one scene with a huge protest, maybe try and...

    The death of DSLR?

This guy thinks so http://www.chrisjonesblog.com/2012/04/dslr-is-dead.html To be honest, I think that this will just encourage the likes of Canon/Nikon/Panasonic etc. to up their game and start introducing more features at a better price point. I think it isn't the death of DSLR but the...

How many shorts before a feature?

 I don't really think there is an answer to this. Experience is key, but there's nothing to say once you move onto features you can't still make shorts. My guess would be once you make a short that you can genuinely say couldn't be any better, in both production and story (don't forget...

    Blackmagic Deisgn 2.5K Raw S16 -- for 2,999.99 - July

I have to admit, I can't stop looking at this camera. I realise I have no chance of being able to afford one anytime soon but it just looks so incredible! I think the choice to have the EF mount is a great one, but then I think so much of this camera has been expertly thought out. These guys...

archived-videos My first short- 'The Shot'

Whelp, I checked and it's 24fps, which might explain why my 25fps version looks so choppy... at least next week I can put the real version up! I would agree that there are issues with sound and colour correction in particular, although if anything I think it needed more focus racking! I gave...

    Casting Ads Question

Wow, I'd love a response like that; wish we had something even close to Craiglist in the UK! I'd have to agree that you should lock down your dates first, preparation and organisation are everything. You need to be in control because once one little thing goes wrong everything can spiral.

archived-videos My first short- 'The Shot'

Thanks for the comments guys! Well the DOP is a photographer but didn't have any film experience, and the composer was someone I found online, so I assume he has experience! Makeup was my girlfriend and another girl and sound was my housemates. One of the actors is as well, the one who's...

archived-videos My first short- 'The Shot'

Hey guys, I've not been as active on these forums recently and this is one of the reasons why: https://vimeo.com/40454722 It's my first short, originally made in the hopes of entering into Jessops film competition, but ultimately I left that very late. It's no budget, with a cast of drama...

    Casting Ads Question

Out of curiosity, where do you find the best places to post such casting calls are, both in print and on the internet?

    archived-videos T.R.O.A.H.M.

It was really nicely shot, and I liked the general idea of it and the message behind it. My only criticism would maybe be it was slightly too long, it probably could have been around 3 minutes, more succinct and to the point, but other than that I enjoyed it. Congrats on a job well done!

Is it true that the market does not like controversial films?

Controversial movies are often very good, but that is when they are done by experienced and skilled directors. It seems unlikely that people would take the same risks and offer the same liberties to a first time director, even if his shorts or scripts are very good. Save it, make a solid film...

    archived-videos Love Journey - A Valentine Story

Really enjoyed it, thought it was a great piece. Like a lot of others have said, I didn't really see it as a 'conversion tool' or even as overtly religious- prior to that final quote nothing like that crossed my mind. I would also agree that the scripture seemed almost like a quote more than...

editing Adobe Premiere Exporting help needed!

Yeah, I'm just hoping it will work now. The way I'm doing it now results in a video that is actually a slightly smaller MB size but the last one took 4 hrs, this one is looking at 10 so surely thats indication that audio is being included! Thanks for everything anyway buddy

editing Adobe Premiere Exporting help needed!

Yeah, that video didn't play through the headphones either. One thing that may be a stupid issue- You can have a track on the video or audio setting highlighted as grey. Do the audio tracks I want need to have that grey highlighting? They haven't done when I've been listening to it.

editing Adobe Premiere Exporting help needed!

Yeah, they were both ticked. I really don't know why it's not exporting. One thing is that when I play my audio through Premiere it will play when I have my headphones in but not when I don't... I don't know if that affects anything?

editing Adobe Premiere Exporting help needed!

Yeah, I don't know if you need any more info but here goes... I have several audio tracks, mostly WAVs, but I did try to combine them all. Everything plays fine in Premiere but not in the finished product. My main concern is just that because my laptop is so bad each of these copies I make...

editing Adobe Premiere Exporting help needed!

I am currently exporting at H.264, instead of the audio I mixed there is just hissing. I think that PAL just changes the framerate, but obviously I'm no expert
