    Jane's Inferno

I don't mean to discourage anyone from applying to festivals. I definitely think you should. Especially to your local festival. The relationships I've made there have been invaluable to my amateur film career. But I've learned to be more strategic in applying. Best of luck!

    Jane's Inferno

Yes and no. I don’t mind supporting festivals with application fees, but after the tenth or so rejection it’s frustrating when you realize how much money you gave with nothing to show. The festivals I went to were awesome. Free food and drinks and movies are always worth it. Networking is just...

    Jane's Inferno

I've still not yet seen the show, but that is common comparison. I think it's the sixth or seventh one. I definitely need to watch it when I get some free time. Thanks for giving it a watch!

    video Editing Roughcut

Hi filmmakers, I'm still a newb at editing, so if this questions seems really dumb, have a laugh and then please help me!! I have a rough cut for a 4 minute short film. It's like 92% done. I'm looking to hire an editor to finish the job - color grade, audio syncing, etc., to tighten it up. I...

    DIY movie poster

Thanks for the response! I wasn't aware of that. However, the question is more about the posters and not the laurels. I can add them eventually if I win anything. I've editing the post to reflect this. Thanks again!

    Overexposed footage

Hi filmmakers, I recently shot some footage for my short film that I'm currently editing. It's pretty important to the story, so I'd like to salvage as much as possible. I shot it on a Canon C100 Mark II. Its owner was unavailable, so I was the one behind the camera for the day. I can't recall...

First time editing, looking for advice

Hi guys and gals, I just finished shooting my first short film and am about to begin the editing process. I'm looking for any tips, advice, links, resources that some of you may have. It's a narrative short, and I estimate the finished film will be around 4-5 minutes. I'm cutting it on final...

Thanks for the replies! This is interesting. Do you have a sample vid or pic or something? How did he make the sunlight blue?

I checked out your website. Nice work, man. Do you have any more examples of film work?

    Blacking out windows

Hello indietalk community! I am shooting a short film that is set at night, with the majority of it set inside a house. Because of that, during the indoor scenes I plan on shooting during the day time and blacking out the windows to give the appearance of night. However, I've never done this...

Should I shoot in B &W for this reason?

He has a point. I planned on doing the exact same thing because a location looked like crap. However, as the director I did it to make it easier for myself and everyone else involved. It's weird that the DP so obviously overstepped his boundaries.

    Difficult Directors and Actors

I don't care much for any of his movies, but James Cameron might be the closest thing I've ever had to a hero, and that link barely scratches the surface as to why. He should be an inspiration to every aspiring filmmaker.
