    watch The Journey Home

5 minute children's film I made over the summer. This was selected to screen at the Envision Film Festival, however it didn't win anything. That didn't matter to me though, getting screened was rewarding enough. :) Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ii9LvacbBG4

watch 24 Hour Film Contest "The Scramble"

Hey guys. Over the weekend I recently competed in a 24 Hour Film Contest at my school. The video had to be 5 minutes along, and needed to include a frying pan as a prop, a park as a location, and the line, "round up the usual suspects." Overall, I had a ton of fun working on this video with my...

    Teddy bears...

So I have this story that I've been thinking about for about six months now and it revolves a round a little boy losing his favorite teddy bear at a park and the bear must find it's way back home. Since the story is told from the bear's POV, I have been wondering how the hell I'm going to pull...

    watch Shootut at High Noon.

So now that I've fixed the problem and re-uploaded it, check it out! I did this for one of my gen ed classes. It didn't really require much, so I just had fun with it. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RQn7itVJ0WM

    watch Got a problem guys!

Hey guys. I recently made a video for a class and something went wrong when I uploaded it to youtube. For some reason, at random spots, one of the frames pops up for 2 seconds and it shakes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c88mw34iI8 at 2:49, 4:05, and 5:24. I used Final Cut Pro and it...

So I want to try my hand at puppeteering, but specifically for videos. Has anyone tried this before? Do I start out with a full body puppet or hand puppets? Thanks! :)

    Tackling 24-hour film competition tomorrow.

Hey guys. Tomorrow I start the first annual "Red Eye 24 Hour Film Festival tomorrow" at my college. It's pretty self explanatory; they give us a required prompt to use at 6 p.m. Friday, and we have to turn the DVD in at 6 p.m. (no later) that Saturday evening. :) As of right now, I'm prepared...

Just wanted to share my gratitude.

I've learned so much from this site. Everyone on here is very helpful. I've only been a member since June, but since then I have grown so much as a film-maker and I know what to expect. If it wasn't for you guys, I probably wouldn't have gotten better or learned as much as I do now. Kudos to you...

Just got my first Super 8 camera.

It's a Canon 512 XL. Pretty easy to use. I don't know much about Super 8 cameras but I think this is a good start camera. I've been shooting some experimental footage today and once I get the film developed I'll post it on here! Cheers!

Had an idea for a film...input?

I recently came up with an idea for a film a few months ago. It's extremely rough and I don't have the entire story constructed out yet, but I was hoping you guys could keep me your opinion on it. It's like an homage to the teen films of the 80's with a modern twist to it. It's about a...

    New short film coming soon.

Hey, I'm somewhat new to this forum, this is my first post in about a month and a half? and I start shooting my next short this week. I bought a shot gun mic and my brother and I made a boom mic out of a painter's pole (we call it the MicGyver) because my first video's audio was rancid and...

    Lighting at night/outside

How would you use lighting outside at night-time without it looking obvious that there is light in the picture? I always have this problem.

    This kind of bugs me...

I don't really like it when studios release multiple clips of their latest film on youtube and all over talk shows and stuff. I feel like the whole purpose of going to the cinema is ruined when they do that, and when they also spoil cameos like they did with Tropic Thunder and The Expendables. I...

    Anybpdy ever felt this way?

So I'm new to this film-making process, I'm fresh out of high-school, and the only experience I've ever really had is making 1 short. The short film I made was "great" coming from my friends and family, but when I post it to other websites, they say it just looks amateur and extremely lame. It...

    Dialouge...

is extremely difficult for me! lol. I don't have too much trouble coming up with a story arch and outlines for scenes, but from the moment I start forming sentences for the characters, everything becomes cheesy and cliche. Anyone else have this problem?
