For the Audio Guys, field received recorder vs camera

Don't get me wrong, I love my BMPCC. I have the tilta cage and rails. Smallhd dp6 monitor. Tilta follow focus. Varavon BMPCC external battery. A decent assortment of m4/3 lens.

For the Audio Guys, field received recorder vs camera

I was curious if the audio recordings recorded into the pocket, via the "A" box, with the use of a good microphone preamp, be as good as using an external recorder, just for simplicity of not having to sync up audio later.

For the Audio Guys, field received recorder vs camera

I find all aspects of film making interesting. When I first started studying independent filmmaking about 4 years ago, I knew nothing. It's debatable whether I know much more then that now. But I wanted to do everything back then. I wanted to direct, and DP, and audio, and everything thing else...

For the Audio Guys, field received recorder vs camera

For the record, it isn't that I can't afford a better audio option. Having run into that A Box, I wanted to inquire if using thst as the recording device would be as good an option as an external recorder. As a side note, I would love to put together a sound kit, and learn proper procedures...

For the Audio Guys, field received recorder vs camera

Hey, I have an audio question. I think I know the answer, but hoped one of the audio guys would chime in. I've been looking at the Wooden Camera A Box Pocket (for my BMPCC) http://woodencamera.com/A-Box-Pocket.html Basically adds 2 XLR inputs, that plugs into the mic input of my camera...

    3-Axis Gimbal Options and Thoughts

I've built a hexa copter (recently stolen unfortunately), and have done a lot of research looking into gimbals to fly a larger camera. While I can't comment specifically on particular model, I do know you'd want to find something with 5000 or better series brushless motors, as the ones on eBay...

    Best books on shot composition?

Not a book, but a great video training series. I've learned a lot from it. http://www.hollywoodcamerawork.us/mc_index.html

    Canon 60D DSLR

    It's a nice camera. I've had the 60D for a while. I have the EFS 17-55 f2.8, and the Tokina 11-16 f2.8.

    watch Aerial event video

So I decided to start off with 5.8ghz for video, since I'm running 2.4ghz for control. I started to go goggles, and ordered a Fatshark Attitude setup. Came with goggles that had integrated 5.8ghz receiver, and a 250mw transmitter for the copter. Turns out my pupil distance is greater then the...

    watch Aerial event video

Very nice as usual. I just upgraded my F550, and added FPV as well. It's a world of difference from flying blind. Had bought video goggles, but my IPD was out side their parameters (my eyes are too far apart). So now waiting on a field monitor for my ground station. Hope to share some stuff...

    I suck at colour grading

+1 for the free version of resolve. Resolve Lite 10 can now handle video up to 4k, if I remember correctly. That's something that Lite 9 didn't do. Also Alexis Van Hurkman wrote the manual for resolve. Has a great video training series on how to use the different tools in resolve. Also he...

    BlackMagic announces new camera

I downloaded and installed this morning. Brought my camera to work. Hopefully I'll get a little downtime this afternoon to film a few min. This is exciting. The other week adobe updated premiere CC to allow native editing of raw footage. So now I'll be able to edit it without creating proxies.

    Question about GoPro type cameras.

I have about $2500 in my setup right now (including the gopro 3). I'm not doing it for any single project. It's something I've had an interest in for a long time. So I decided to build and learn to fly, what I consider an entry level craft. I've enjoyed learning to fly it. If I just had a single...

    Question about GoPro type cameras.

Listen, it's a fun hobby. And I've just recently added a gimbal, so hope to do some cool aerial video stuff, for myself and any local indie filmmakers who'd like to add some production value to their films. I'm not telling you to not do it. Was just telling you about the cost and learning it...

    Question about GoPro type cameras.

The difference between a phantom and say a f450 (quad copter), is also with the phantom you get a tx/receiver. With an almost ready to fly f450 package there is no transmitter or receiver. You have to purchase those seperatly. A little over a year ago, I bought an f550 (hexacopter) package, with...

    ND filter confusion.

I might suggest a variable ND filter. I picked up one in 77mm size, and a bunch of different step up rings, so that I can use it on a number of different lens. I think I spent $175 for the one I have. I know they run up much higher, but had read good reviews on the one I bought.

Black Magic Pocket Camera Review: vs Canon 5D3 and Red Epic

I picked up Alexis Van Hurman's Davinci Core training (this is the guy who wrote the manual for Resolve. http://www.rippletraining.com/categories/avid-adobe-davinci-courses/davinci-resolve-products/davinci-resolve-9.html Great video training. Covers everything in Davinci I've coupled that...

    Question about GoPro type cameras.

The dji gh3 gimbal (zenmuse) cost somewhere around $3500. Then the craft to fly it will run $4000 minimum. I have a hexacopter (bigger then a phantom) and with landing gear, gimbal, and gopro, I'm starting to get a little heavy. To the point I'm considering upgrading to larger motors. Would...
