    watch My First Short Film

Nice camerawork, I enjoyed the limited color, although the super shallow depth of field got distracting at times. It did drag a little, and it was pretty predictable story-wise. A fantastic start though, as your first short film, I can tell you are well on your way.

Computar 12.5mm f/1.3 lens modified for Micro Four Thirds (GH1, GH2, etc)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170724640576 C-mount lens with adapter, and modified to focus to infinity. One of the fastest, widest lenses you can get for Micro Four Thirds. Vignetting is very apparent, so cropping of some sort is necessary (or tele-crop mode on a GH2)...

Deferred Payment, People vs. George Lucas

Fun fact: I'm in there, right around the 29 minute mark with a friend of mine at that screening. I'm the idiot with the sideburns and Hot Fuzz shirt.

watch Jumpin' on High - 48 Hour Film Project submission

It was. I was shooting handheld, and fussing with audio at the same time, as our audio guy couldn't make it this weekend. My shoulder mount rig wouldn't have worked well with the way I had our audio recorder rigged up, and a tripod wouldn't have fit the mockumentary format very well, so...

watch Jumpin' on High - 48 Hour Film Project submission

This weekend some of my friends and I did the 48 Hour Film Project in Chicago. Our genre we pulled was Mockumentary, and this was the result. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xTkn9cWL1o

    Nikon D90 ... Thoughts?

As the D90 was one of the first DSLRs with video capabilities, it wasn't great for that. Only 720p, and the "jello" effect is really pronounced compared to more recent cameras. It also has a time limit of five minutes, and no manual control (I'm not sure the extent of this), which would be a...

Star Wars Nerds, you GOTTA see this!

That was incredibly awesome. Made better because I saw The People vs. George Lucas in Chicago last weekend.

    Watching a movie

Yep, I do this too. First shot of a movie generally I'll say "Yep, this was shot on film." or "Yep, this was shot digitally." And then I'll notice things like flares and oval bokeh telling me something was shot with anamorphic lenses. I'll notice the 180 rule, and how it gets complicated with...

    DIY Camera Rig

I built myself a (mostly complete) DIY shoulder mount rig. Panasonic GH1 with Canon FD 35-105mm f/3.5 I definitely recommend one. It gives me far smoother video than I can manage handheld. I spent around $35 on it, not including the tools I used (my Dremel, drill press, pipe cutter, etc.). I...

Good *fast* wide-angle lens for GH1 (2x crop)?

I already have a few lights that we are using, and they work great. The shot where I could have used a faster wide lens took place in the hallway of an apartment complex. We could not set up lighting of any kind, as we very much did not have full control of the location. I don't foresee similar...

Good *fast* wide-angle lens for GH1 (2x crop)?

Thanks a bunch for all the replies! This I am very well aware of. I have a few worklights that we have been using, with good results. It was just this one particular bit that was in a darker location where we could not set up our lights. I want to be able to work better with it the next time...

Good *fast* wide-angle lens for GH1 (2x crop)?

I'm DP on a feature that began shooting last week. I'm using my Panasonic DMC-GH1. My lens toolkit at the moment is a 12-24mm f/4 Tokina Nikon-mount lens, a 50mm f/1.4 Canon FD lens, and a 35-105mm f/3.5 Canon FD lens. With the 2x crop factor of my GH1, these are of course equivalent to...
