I must say I enjoyed it. My knowledge of the American Civil War is somewhat limited, so for me it was a learning experience too. The acting seemed natural and the sound was clear too. Great use of props, uniforms and "historical dialect". I'm ex-forces, so anything with guns get my thumbs-up...

Looks like I'm going to have to take your advice mate. After hours and hours of fiddling about with levels, EQ, gating , etc, it just doesn't sound quite right. Time to pull in a few favours and get the voice recorded again. Ho hum :)

I'm in the same boat too. Am currently finishing off filming my very first film and I have used workmates and friends as the actors. I'm happy (as much as I could be on my first attempt) with how it is coming out. And I guess when you look at other shorts made by people who use "proper" actors...

I have found that adding ambient sound does help. I've been looking up gating and think that this could be another way out. Failing that, I'm just going to have to re-record with someone else (outside). Time to change the credits ;)
