    So, here are two pictures of the same frame of video from a test I did. Which one (in terms of colour) looks most cinematic? Give me your thoughts on this. The first is the original and the second I have graded to give a bleach bypass effect.

    Letterbox

    Using a dvx100 you can add letterbox, however in the edit when colour correcting it also tints the black of the letterbox. Is crop the solution?

    Avoiding grain Thanks, they are good ideas. will have to go for the moon light as it is set in the country. I was also wondering how bright I will need it to be? Needs to look dark (night) but light enough to see good detail. How do you avoid getting grainy or hazy blacks?

    How would you suggest lighting a house at night? For example: All the house lights are off. A man wakes up after hearing a noise and goes downstairs to see if anyone is there.

    You can (or could last time I checked) get blender free from cnet downloads.com But I strongly agree just use after effects. tbh you could even do it in premiere pro.

    What location lighting to get?

    builders lights. cheap and portable. Also be careful not to get any that may cause flickering.
