off-topic Movies that deal with high finance.

I'm like that too. I'm in law now, and, when I complete my journey in this profession, I wish to move on and never come back. That's been the constant theme of my life, never to return to my previous place, and, the few times I did so, I regretted it. I think many of us are like that.

I don't know about the other movies, but have you read Paul Erdman's novels? They were very popular in the 1970's and 1980's, and they would be a good source of fictional material on fi-fi.

Good point about Wolf of Wall Street, but Casino Royale didn't focus on the selling forward as the main focus. The tension in the Bond movie, like all Bond movies, was the action and playboy romance. I guess, by the same token, Trading Places was also not focusing mainly on the selling forward...

off-topic Movies that deal with high finance.

There are very few movies that deal with the intricacies of high finance, and even novels often don't deal with that. I did a quick perusal of what books dealt with drama in finance, and many of them involved murder on Wall Street. By contrast, the books by the late Paul Erdman dealt with the...

misc I would love to write a Superman trilogy (or quadrology).

Exactly! I'm writing the scene where the Kents find Kal-El, and, of course, writing the scene is more involved than what's in your head. But it suddenly occurred to me ... what if he had been found by the couple in the 1960's series, Green Acres? It's set in the same place as Petticoat Junction...

budget Soon doing our first paid gig, no idea what price to ask for.

You need an agent to negotiate for you. William Morris Endeavour is the biggest agency doing that kind of work. You wrote this over a month ago, so I hope you tagged this thread.

distro is a Netflix Deal exclusive?

I presume, from the comments, that Netflix may not demand exclusivity. But, if you're lucky enough to get Netflix's attention, I suggest you get an entertainment lawyer to assist you. I know lots of reputable ones in New York City.

misc I would love to write a Superman trilogy (or quadrology).

I find that writing with pen and paper to be more satisfying than typing on a computer, though I will, of course, have to commit the final draft to MS Word. Any thoughts on that?

distro I just finished my big passion project, now what??

Congratulations, my friend. Don't forget to get a lawyer and an accountant to deal with those humdrum issues that you have to deal with. And ask around about any insurance policies that you should be getting. Good luck!

Thanks. And writing, of course, changes you, just as you change your writing. My first paragraphs (no compete story yet) had Kal-El's ship, with its AI, noting the planet's destruction, then zooming off to the planet around the yellow sun. Now, I think the AI will also communicate with a...

misc I would love to write a Superman trilogy (or quadrology).

Yes. The novelization of the first film dealt with the Guardians of the Universe and their Green Lantern Corps. And, don't forget, canon is important.

misc I would love to write a Superman trilogy (or quadrology).

The creative urge. I am already writing my own story (or stories), but, again, that urge, suppressed for so long during my career, is coming out. This is not my profession (yet), as you know, and I've been told to write out whatever I want to write, then distill it. This can, of course, also be...

misc I would love to write a Superman trilogy (or quadrology).

Given current events, I'm escaping into fantasy - and delusional one at that. I'm a fan of the first two Superman movies with Richard Donner, but, after that, another team took over, so the franchise went downhill. I understand Superman 1 was the first major motion picture to take the genre...

    misc Cameo service

According to the New York Times, there's an online service called "Cameo" that allows minor celebrities to make short videos for a fee. The article also notes that the money is probably gig money, and the service, like so many other online videos, won't be shaking up the established giants...

Rik, you're right, because you know me well. We have butted our heads, but that's how we learn, right? As Hegel would say the thesis and antithesis leads to the synthesis. Correct. But I also have a passion for storytelling or I would never have gotten into this forum ... or gotten to know...
