archived-videos Opinions on my first action/scifi film??

To echo what others have said - really nice camera work and good editing, but two guys shooting at each other does not a story make (and has been seen many many times before). Also the muzzle flashes and hits looked a bit cheap. Really good as a first attempt though. Curious to know how you...

archived-videos Something's Abstract - Very Proud of My First Short Film!

I enjoyed it, but I'm afraid I saw the ending coming a mile off.

archived-videos The Adventures of Baron Redding

Overall it looked pretty well exposed to me, in that you weren't getting too many blown out highlights or crushed blacks - can't you adjust the contrast and colors in post to get what you're after? It seems like you've got enough to work with. Great location by the way :)

    archived-videos clip from comedy "LoveHate"

Loved it - I don't know if you have ever seen Peter Jackson's puppetsploitation 'masterpiece' Meet The Feebles, but if you haven't you should. Agree that the editing was perhaps a little too frenetic, but it certainly didn't outstay its welcome.

    archived-videos TSOTSS! - A Short Psychological Comedy

I know it was kind of the point, but I found it a bit, well, repetitive. I loved the turn with knife shot at 2:31 though, very striking!

archived-videos The Lucky One - 24 Hour Short Film Entry

really nicely put together - amazing for 24 hours! Did that include writing, shooting, the whole shebang? I am also curious about your lighting - obviously it was all shot with daylight to an extent but what additional lighting did you use? Loving the focus pulls too... If I had to find fault...

    archived-videos Matchmaker - Short Comedy

The end made me laugh - good work! Lighting on the matchmaker guy was a little dark though.

Haha, what the hell was that? The guy reading out the title should get an oscar.

archived-videos "Fine" directed by Ian Frowler

Well I kind of liked it for what its worth. Aesthetic was nice, although the shaky cam was occasionally a little distracting when it got particularly wobbly. And it had a subtle, sad little story if you were willing to engage with it. Perhaps a tad over-long for such a deliberately experimental...

In Bruges (again) 10/10 - One of my favorite films ever, such a great mix of comedy and drama!

Super nOOB here. Question about makeup

I was going to ask this exact same question - thanks for all the tips so far! Looks like I'm going to need to find a MUA after all...

archived-videos So I directed my first two films ever...Here it is

really liked the cinematography in Chamber - premise/story was a bit generic but it did look nice and held my attention so a very good start I would say! Only thing that really jarred was the note - would hitmen really communicate via very large print handwritten notes?

archived-videos Socrates is Dead - Trailer

Like the premise, looks nice but as others have said if I hadn't read your post I wouldn't really have a clue what it was about. Look forward to seeing the whole thing though!

Love it. The part with gundog's partner telling him to quit the booze was just fabulous.

Legality of showing a DVD cover

Thanks GuerillaAngel - yeah I think it's probably better to play safe than sorry for the amount of extra effort involved. I'll add it to the increasingly massive list of "stuff to make" :)

Legality of showing a DVD cover

Thanks for the reply sonnyboo! Yes, the intended audience is basically festivals and internet distribution - but I heard some festivals were pretty touchy about legal stuff - wouldn't want to get disqualified for something I could easily avoid (assuming my alternative plan is legally ok that...

Legality of showing a DVD cover

Hello there. I'm currently in the process of making my first short and I was wondering if anyone could help me with a legal question. In the short, two characters are seen watching a movie on DVD. The actual movie itself isn't shown (the camera is on the characters rather than the TV), but the...
