Trying to apply the three act structure to the thriller genre.

Personally, I'm getting bored with the 3 act structure (not to turn this into a debate or anything). It's so easy to watch a movie and say "we've just entered act 3." It's a great structure to follow when first starting out, but I think could also be very healthy to find ways to deviate from...

Premiere Pro vs Final Cut Pro

I wouldn't go as far as to say AVID is the most used, even among professionals. Maybe the most respected, but not the most used. It fully depends on the project. I hear Final Cut X is great for documentaries and shorter indie projects (I hear it can slow down with longer timelines). Avid is...

I feel this could be remixed into an amazing hip hop video.

    Managing Difficult Writer

Like sfoster said, IMO, get to the point where the script is "finished," and try to make a statement that things should no longer be changed at that point. His role as a writer should be over. HOWEVER, as an investor, he unfortunately gains a new level of power. Though I guess it depends on...

My short film's 1st Teaser Trailer - "Bill & Maggie"

Great work. I would definitely love to see the full film. The story didn't necessarily "grab me," but the visuals alone were enough to gain my interest.

Most effective way of marketing and promoting your movie ?

I'm not saying what does work. But just wanted to say something I've tried continually with no luck and that's paid advertisements through YouTube. Highly inconsistent and the money doesn't go far. I've had a lot of luck with Facebook ads but now that they limit it so not all of your "likers"...

FS7, used. What do you think?

Not sure the used price on it you're looking at, but I feel you may be able to find another, more worthwhile camera. But maybe I'm wrong. There just seems to be a lot of great things on the horizon.

Would anyone be interested in a service to buy/sell short screenplays?

As what directorik said, I wouldn't buy a script without reading the whole thing. As long as the writers have their scripts copyrighted, would it be an issue to have the whole script readily available to read for potential buyers?

    Casting Name Actors

Very nice read. The last few shows I've worked on have had extraordinary casting directors, and it really makes a huge difference.

    What's your short film budget?

That's a pretty nice budget. Most shorts I've worked on, I would say, tend to fall in the $5,000-$15,000 dollar range. I've slowly been accumulating a lot of my own equipment, which allows me to keep rental fees to a minimum; instead mostly having that budget go to personnel, locations, and...

    Help Finding A Filming Location

I know a few places, primarily in Athens, GA. Is there a budget for locations? Cause these places definitely wouldn't be overly cheap.

What do you think about these websites? Could they work?

I've seen sites like this but have yet to meet anyone who has had success with them. Not that they're not out there. Even though Hollywood can be said to be out of ideas, I don't think they're necessarily thirsty for them. Everyone and their mother seems to have a movie idea. A great idea...

archived-videos Mike VS Evil Mike (Comedy Short)

ahhhh gotcha. Yeah I've been really interested in adding all sound in post as well. That's what many of the french new wave artists did in order to save costs and I think it could yield a more controlled audio since you create it all from scratch rather than working with what was already recorded.
