Best way to mount camera on a vehicle (limited budget)?

Hopefully you're using a fairly light camera! If you'll be doing anything too DIY :)

dialogue Star Wars prequel Dialogue: Best in movie history?

Everyone I know hates the Prequel (I hate calling them prequels tbh) dialogue. Personally, I love it. It's somewhat Shakespearean.

Glad to have you here! Being someone who goes to a pretty large number of filmmaking forums on the internet, I can proudly say that this one seems to be one of the most beneficial, friendly, and well rounded. Hope you enjoy it here :D

    Starting your Crowdfunding Project

Yeah, totally agree with SkyCopeland. Also, it can be beneficial to you to already have a lot of people (cast and crew) attached to a project; as the more people attached to it, the more people willing to push and share the Crowdfuning campaign.

Assistant director or 2nd Unit director

AD is a director's assistant in charge of numerous things but probably the most notable, scheduling and keeping things on track. 2nd Unit acts as a crew separate from the main crew, getting supplementary shots that don't require principal photography. This allows them to save money as they...

    Why Art Grads are underemployed

Wow love this. As someone who went to film school, I have to fully agree with this. I've been getting a fair amount of work but most people I know, even those who were at the top of the class, have already had to seek out other "regular" jobs. Also, people who want to pay for a video can't...

    Short Films...do people still care?

Perfectly said. I watch short films pretty frequently, but mostly just to see potential people I'd like to work with or to seek out inspiration. If I wasn't into film, I don't think I'd ever really watch a short film unless I was asked to. They can obtain a profitable audience, but definitely...

    What are you working on?

Finishing editing a pretty beefy short film. DPing on a feature documentary. Writing a short film. PrePro on a short I'll be directing.

character Should my character fight these people?

I guess it depends on the how the character is. Saving them all deff sounds more original and compelling to me though. What if he fights them all, but as he's finishing off the last one, they look kind of pitiful, so he decides to spare them and save them instead. May not fit with the story...

editing Masking for certain rotobrush area

If it was me, I would probably just use an adjustment layer with masks and roto it around the desired parts, since it's a reasonably short sequence.

Ideas for a First person/POV film

Definitely seems like a fully possible idea to create a first person short film. If you haven't already seen it, I'd recommend checking out scenes from The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. It's first person, if I recall correctly, although probably very different than what you're wanting to do...

dialogue Do you think that sometimes, having dialogue is a good thing, in this case?

I think you could do it both ways. It's kind of stylistic preference in a way. Some films prefer to leave things more to the imagination or not focus on certain things. They prefer subtleties I guess I would say. Then you have other films that really dive into the dialogue as a way of...

    How good is filming?

I totally agree with you. A lot of times when we're wrapping set, and producers are pushing to get everyone home, I get that feeling of "wait, what... it's over? Can't we all stay and hang out?" It's so much fun. So awesome. To quote Fury, "Best job I ever had."

Should I buy a cage for my camera or is it unnecessary?

I couldn't agree with El Director more. I'd say you don't need one, but you should get one. It allows you to get more acquainted with professional rigs and systems which can open a lot of doors in the camera assisting and camera operating world.

I'm having trouble conveying my genre world to the reader.

Maybe if there's one bad cop, there could be many bad cops. So he's afraid to ask for backup as he's not sure if that backup will be a bad affiliate of the bad cop. Thus, he's forced to take on corruption on his own. Idk though, just thinking out loud.

    Are documentaries scripted?

I'm working on a feature documentary now. There definitely isn't any physical, written script. But I guess it is still scripted in a sense. The director has a great deal of knowledge on the subject matter, and is thus able to closely predict what will happen as we're filming. So they...

Love the set build. Also really digging the cinematography and color work. Really great stuff. Also, that one actor looks like Walter White in Breaking Bad haha
