    archived-videos Mrs Dalloway! Need feedback!

was an interesting little piece... i would agree with smith that you need to get a tripod. handheld shots are nice... but they need to be for a purpose. perhaps a mixture of both handheld and still shots might work. i couldn't understand it either... but one thing i would say is that film is...

    What SD camera to buy?

of those you mentioned, i'd suggest going with the MiniDV camera so you can easily transfer to your computer.... or, even better... get a cheap camera that records straight to sd flash memory cards.... much easier... no worries about chewed tapes... and there are some pretty cheap ones out there...

    Yet another sony vegas problem

are you editing in HD? that could be the cause, combined with too high a quality setting on the preview window... otherwise i don't know why it would lag with no effects... that's weird, especially with the system you have.... the preview quality you have it set on can make a big difference...

    Yet another sony vegas problem

well... i'm assuming you already did this... but the first thing to try is to put the preview on "draft" quality... yeah it makes it look pixellated... but it plays much smoother... assuming you've done that... you can try defragging, or gettting more RAM... it's also caused when you have...

thanks brooksy :) glad you enjoyed it. and don't worry... not "hurt" or whatever by your review... i'd rather have honest constructive critique anyway :) yeah... now than i think about it... you're right about the lighting... my reasoning for it being the way it was was that i wanted it to...

archived-videos amos - an experimental short 'horror' film

this was my 4th film. it was based on a couple of fairly creepy verses from the old testament book of Amos, after which the film is named. i shot it in the spring of 2005... though i had a couple annoying computer crashes before i finally got it finished sometime in 2006. let me know what you...

story What is the relationship with a story and film?

thanks.... glad i could be of some help.... and don't think that i'm trying to say that story isn't important.... or that a good story isn't necessary... because that's not it at all.... i agree with others here that many movies today suffer from story and script problems.... so many of them...

    STORY IS KING...

i just wrote a thing on "story" over in another thread.... http://www.indietalk.com/showpost.php?p=90348&postcount=4 and before you bash what i said... i do love a good story... and i think weak stories and weak scripts are a huge problem in hollywood today... so many movies would have...

story What is the relationship with a story and film?

to me... the story is just another tool in the filmmaker's box... it's not the whole point of the film... it's not "everything"... (i know many will disagree with that)... but to me, if all that someone cared about was story... they would read a book.... to me, not EVERYTHING has to support...
