    2014 SECRET SANTA TIME!!!

Shall we just draw, and if wheat posts on here, then we can all make short things for him?

    Thank you both :)

    My first music video

haha. It just looked like that to me. But very nice.

    My first music video

I loved it! I thought the exposure and color helped to tell the story wonderfully. It took the viewer on a journey. Unfortunately, I had no idea what the song meant, but that hardly mattered to me, as I came away with a complete story. The camera motion helped motivate the visuals a lot. The...

I'd say diffusion. And something I've been told is that have an idea of where in the room the light would be coming from.

sound If I were to learn an instrument for my projects, which would be best if just one?

I'd say keyboard as well. It opens up a lot. You can use programs like LMMS, with some pretty decent free VSTs and before you now it, you're on your way to scoring.

I'm 17 and just wrapped my first feature

no problem. I get how important feedback is. Best wishes for future filming!

archived-videos In Good Company - Please critique!

I may not be the best one to offer feedback, but.. The lighting was good, and the music playing while the camera was in motion at the beginning really gave it a filmic feel. The slow, minimal (Digital zoom?) on the record player was good, rather than just a static shot. The audio, in my opinion...

    Keeping Production On Schedule

This is a good solution. And being "a valuable member of every project" I'm brought on to is what the goal is, isn't it. Thank you. I'm definitely going to do further research. And thank you, Ray. This was essential for me since day one. I have found like minded, motivated people, and we are...

    archived-videos Dr. Moderately-Bad: Evil Mastermind

I just wanted to share my second project I had done at college. I've come a ways since then, and the first half drags a tad, although I stand behind my script 100% and the actors were perfect for the type of ridiculous comedy I was going for. I hope you get a laugh out of it...

I must say, my favorite joke from either of them is: "Drunken Debauchery" "Sober Debauchery" But well done! You're doing a thing.

    Keeping Production On Schedule

Yes. Yes Thank you so much. I appreciate it. The more feedback I have, the more I can learn. Yeah, there was an outlet just out of frame in use, and I should have tightened up the shot. Looking back, I don't know why I didn't.. I was experimenting with more stylized lighting, so there was...

    Keeping Production On Schedule

no need to be sorry. And yes indeed :) I'm looking forward to the years where people are on the same page, and have experience. And I'm doing all I can now to get to that point. On a different note, do you have any feedback regarding that video? Obviously, I have a long list of things I see...

    Keeping Production On Schedule

Not at the level I'm at. I'm a freshman, and the way our projects usually go, is we have one week for pre-production, and one week for production. We have to find our own actors and crew, all other students. This production just took one afternoon-into-night shoot and a two hour followup shoot...

    2014 SECRET SANTA TIME!!!

I'm new around these parts so I'm not sure how this works. Seems fun though.

    Keeping Production On Schedule

Thank you Directorik. That's really helpful. Everyone has been. How does a director delegate tasks to the 1st AD generally? And any chance that film is available to see? :) I love seeing what others have done.

Best, Cheapest Mic for a No-Budget Filmmaker?

First off, locutus, nice username. I'd just throw out there the Em-320e. It's cheap, and nowhere near as good quality as a professional mic, but it cleans up reasonably well, and is good to have on hand in a pinch. It's basically so cheap as far as film gear goes, that if it breaks, you're not...
