    cinematography Herky Jerky camera style

Disclaimer: Firstly, I applaud anyone who has a job in TV and film and I wish it was me that was being told to zoom in and out and I would do it until told to stop. Now that's out of the way, the zooms in the Counting Cars video are just stupid. That's all there is to it for me. It's like when...

I remember when they kept going on about it being really cool when NYPD Blue were doing it. It's so natural and innovative or something along those lines. I watched two episodes and I was out. Made me feel dizzy. We've all gotten used to it now, as it's everywhere these days. I believe it's just...

archived-videos My very first short film (Need Critique)

It's great to look at, the make-up was good and some of the transition effects were cool. But not having any sound at all made it hard work to sit through, for me.

Portrait mode. Sorry, it's just not filmmaking. It looks shit, it feels shit, it is shit... I am not going to get into it. The LAST thing i want to do is get into something with someone, so this is it. My opinion... Portrait mode is shit.

I am not a snob. I am not a prude. I am open to many things... BUT I AM NEVER, EVER, EVER GOING TO BE PART OF THE crAPPLE PORTRAIT FILMMAKING RIDICULOUSNESS..! Again, with the 'sorry', but recording video in portrait mode with an iPhone/iPad does not make you a filmmaker... KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE!!!

Tascam DR-40 to buy or not

I know from experience with Kickstarter, that if you submit a project that mentions the purchase of equipment, they (Kickstarter) will email you and ask you to modify your project to not mention this before you re-submit for the reasons above.

Cameras Used By 2014 Sundance Filmmakers

I have a bad habit in real life, as well as message boards, of using far too few words to say what I am thinking. Must try harder!

Cameras Used By 2014 Sundance Filmmakers

I think I worded my post wrong. I should have said something along the lines of, here is a list of Sundance films and what cameras were used to make them. Some of you may find that interesting. Then I should have added that being a newbie like myself, I hadn't heard of some of the cameras and...

Tascam DR-40 to buy or not

For filming outside, I would definitely recommend using a deadcat for the Rode. They are $40 usually. I bought two deadcats from THIS seller on Ebay and they are very good quality. They were the cheapest I could find and two came to $32. The pictures don't show it, but they fit really snug and...
