i just need to to know what prime lens to call for i'm going to be the DP on a fiend's short coming up. yah the cheapest one i could find was that mini sized one on the lanyard. i guess it's something you only buy once in your life so you don't see it on ebay. but yah i should use a SLR camera...

ware would a guy who doesn't want to spend a lot of money find a director's eyepiece? they aren't even on ebay and i don't really feel like dropping 200 bucks.

a normal bed sheet would be enough for all 3 and then some. you need like 4' squares at the very most

people knock 3d down allot but i think it has potential to have artistic merit, avatar really used it to add another dimension to the composition of the shots rather than as stchick. I would make a 3d film if i had access to the technology.

there's no reason not to send it (other than the entree fee) if you are proud of it and you want to show it send it to a festival. It's not really a narrative but it's deffenenty a film, and iv'e seen worse at festivals.

$50000 camera shooting 4k used to make a little youtube video smaller than the little monitor attached to the camera lol. The red is a great camera and the picture is beautiful but i never really understood the benefit of shooting 4k as apposed to 1080 unless you are planning to do a 4k film...

most people i know who watch that movie who are into film making totally change the way they think about lighting the first time they watch it. i LOVE that movie.

does your school have any HMI lights? if your doing morning your going to want to have like a hard sunlight color maybe with the shadows of blinds or a window frame on the wall or the bed.

what about shooting day for night and getting your bluish-greenish look in post?

yah gel frames are more of a live theater thing, in film you just clamp them to the barn doors with clothespins (c47's) unless your talking about like a 4x4' frame for a big 18k or something.

yah it will be al ot more difficult to make your film when the bills start pileing up. Unless you think you could get by on just weekends, thats what i am doing so i can be an electrician (non paid for school) on a 4 week shoot coming up.

you could also think about one of those LCD viewfinder magnifiers, those are nice, but one you put it on a steady cam or something it becomes useless. I shot my short on the 7d and my biggest regret is not insisting on my camera guys using a monitor.

depends on the feel of your piece. I'm using old school cheep horror gags that will make my movie feel nostalgic.

i was actually using it tonight to block a scene in my head, i was doing the camera movement with it and blocking imaginary actors on the screen lol.

if you go into the advance menu you can set hot keys on the little arrow thing. for instance up sets the manual focus, left gives me ISO, and down gives me my shutter and iris.
