You're equating quality of film to quality of equipment as opposed to quality of filmmaker. All the equipment is useless unless you know how to utilize it.

If you're aware that there may be sounds that may not be consistent, always record at least a minute of room tone. That way you can just overlap it throughout the whole scene.

From video's that I've seen, it's a dummy cart that goes into the battery slot with a wire attached so that you can plug into the wall.

If you're keen on adding movement then this is where a mic stand would come in handy. Is it professional? Depends on your definition, but it certainly gets the job done.
