I heartily disagree. I find writing them "well" (mine are in air quotes 'cause I think my writing is AWESOME) quite easy.
Now this, this I'll agree wholeheartedly with.
Sigh. Much like the camera confusion I'm now also confused about tripods. I'm now hearing that the Manfretto options are all crap for video because they have tiny fluid heads.
Lol, will you consider me rude if I answer "Yes" AND "No"?
It's all good. I need to learn this stuff somehow and counter-points to counter-points and new information is all helpful towards that end so thanks.
Adaptors are seriously expensive. The one that I've seen recommended here a few times costs around $500.
What about an "absolute bare essential necessity" recommendation?
NTG-2's seem to be the most popularly suggested one around here.

Cheapest I've been able to find so far. Lemme know if you can find cheaper.
Also... why the hell are boom POLES so damn expensive...
Annnnnnd I'm confused again.
So, there's this one particular poster on another forum who is telling me what sounds like very good advice but since I don't know any better, I have no idea whether or not I should listen to it.
He's recommending one of the following as being far more preferential...
Thanks. I'll look into that.
However, my problem is that I don't know what to look for. I can't even tell the difference between a photography tripod and a video tripod. I don't know what a slider is or how it connects and only have a basic idea of what a head is. Do I need plates as well...
Two things.
1) I'm making a new thread even though there are other threads on tripods because I want all the attention on me and I don't want to have to search for stuff when I have no idea what I'm searching for and have to trawl through a thousand results trying to find out the specific...
I realise that quality equipment is part and parcel of making quality content, but there's also the fact that I'm literally only just now starting to learn this stuff and I need equipment with which to learn on and I'm not getting financed by a big studio. My finances are solely coming from...
Don't gaze too long into the looking glass, there, Whitmer. You might end up writing a children's book about a hedgehog that is a parallel to your child-hood abandonment issues which manifests as an abject fear of laundrettes!
It's a thing. Really it is.
Oh good, then at least I can recognise quality :D
I'd love to know how to go about making something like that. The planning of it, cutting. It seems so intricate and involved. Being anal-retentive is probably a good thing in this industry, right?
I fainted when I looked into the prices of tripods. Are these any good? I don't even know what to look for at this stage.

$469 brand new is the best I can find for the 600D with EF-S 18-55mm IS.
And those lenses are WAAAAAY out of my price range. So far it looks like any wide-angle lens is going to be far too expensive for me to get at this early juncture.
