    M.o.Mo. Club: "Ink"

I am sorry, but was not able to watch it. Seems it is not available in Germany unless you buy it. But I look forward to the next movie (whatever it may be) and hope it will be available for rent somewhere over here.

    M.o.Mo. Club: "Chinatown"

There seem to be some analogies to real events. Quote from Wikipedia: I can imagine there is more hidden in the story. Long shots were more common back then, but maybe they are really even longer in "Chinatown". I enjoyed the calm style and long shots, but believe the camera should have been...

Writers...What is your ideal writing setting?

It is very similar to yours. Sometimes I choose music instead of the TV to get in the right mood. And sometimes I replace the hot coffee with a cold beer ;) ps: I don't smoke, so replace the cigarette with anything eatable and unhealthy, mostly M&Ms

Movie of the Month Club -- who wants in?

done. You can recognize a trend by now :D ...and for those, who are not in every day and also live in an other time zone

Movie of the Month Club -- who wants in?

I just tried this: Go to a site like "texasproxy.com" and paste the link "http://www.netflix.com/BrowseSelection" into it. You should be able to see more, as netflix thinks you are surfing from the US. Not the best solution, but at least a way to see which movies they have listed.

Movie of the Month Club -- who wants in?

I'd love to join this club, under same conditions as NickClapper. Some movies might not be available in Europe unless you buy them online. Cracker, did you have specific kinds of movies in mind? Some genres, we should keep out or no big budget mainstream films?

Do I need permission to shoot in a public place?

That was exactly what we did in our recent project :D Well, actually it was not the property of our friend, but of his neighbour. An old man, who usually checks if everything is fine on his ground for one day in the year. Of course this was the one day and sure we did not ask before. He was a...

    Logos and brand names

I would definitely clean that, no matter what you are going to do with your movie.

Who do you think has "style"?

Do you have some examples? As I do not like most of the bigger German productions, it would be interesting to see what people from other countrys like.

    Rewatchable and overwatched

Rewatchable Sooo many, just some examples... The big Lebowski The naked gun & Police squad TV series Planet terror From dusk till dawn ... Overwatched I can only think of The Hangover right now. It was funny the first time, but with every time watching it again, it got less funny.

    Hobo with a Shotgun

I agree with DangerDigital and JoshL. If you like crazy characters, over the top violence and old school splatter effects (no digital S**t), you should give this movie a chance. I bought the British blu ray at play.com and I am happy with it.

editing Getting the best from Rode Video Mic?

Thanks a lot SinEater and Alcove! That means if I decide to use the NTG-2, there are two options: 1. Plug it (via adapter?) into the standard mic-in of my camera (panasonic sd707), what means that booming could be almost impossible. So maybe I would have to put it on my camera :hmm: 2. Buy a...

What do you think how long can the cord be without getting problems if you can not use XLR?

Best comedy for a rainy day indoors?

And check out Slugs, too. The scene, were a slug bites someone in the finger is just hilarious.

Best comedy for a rainy day indoors?

In memory of Leslie Nielsen: - The naked gun movies - The police squad "series" (those few episodes) Well, I think his first movies (Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown) are still OK. Not my favourites, but entertaining if you are in the right mood. Kill Bill was a bit too long and Death...

    Falling into Snakes?!

Yeah and when he gets out of the pit with the ugly drunk chicks, he falls into the snake pit and says something like "aahh thats better" ;)

    Stuff in the Backgound

If you need an additional extra, just put him a hat on and maybe a moustache

    Stuff in the Backgound

Haha, we had the same thing in our first project. We were filming a shoot out and in one scene an actor lies on the sofa...behind the person, who actually should be shooting at him :D In another scene, you see a bottle of beer, that should not be there. Then the actor does a little step to the...

editing CGI Monster vs. Practical Effects

I totally agree :) Last weekend, there were some of those cheap monster movies by "The Asylum" ("Giant octopus vs. crocosaurus" etc.). All those CGI creatures looked ridiculous, I would rather see a "real" monster made by a passionate indie filmer. If you only use digital effects, you will hit...

What’s the best way to shoot in SLOW MOTION with Canon VIXIA HF M31?

I would just shoot with a high shutter to get clear, sharp footage. And then slow it down in post. If I wasn't sure which method is best, I would test it with a plastic "glass".
