How's this for a blog name?

Rube is actually a word - may be an American term, but usually refers to someone who is unsophisticated and can be taken advantage of, generally in a carnival or gambling situation. "Look at the rube." gelder

My feature film got greenlit for $5 million by an investment firm. What do I do now?

You could do some simple pre-production like scouting locations, if you'll be shooting local to where you are. You could ask for sample work and references from storyboard artists, if you're not doing that yourself. You could put together a "dream cast" list - who you would see in each role...

Can you tell me if this would work as a short?!

If you can make me believe it through the actor always turning his head from reflective surfaces, maybe sticking to places that he learns don't have mirrors...but, it's tough. Human nature, I think, would be to want to see whatever drove your parents away - especially if people then started...

Can you tell me if this would work as a short?!

The one thing that doesn't work for me in this concept is the idea of someone going through their life without ever seeing a mirror, especially someone who goes into the city and to a coffee shop every day. Try going for a day without seeing yourself reflected in windows, mirrors in shops...

    Final Cut Text

I use a FCP plug-in called "Lower Third - Alex4D 2" - it's a nicely functional lower third that gives you three lines that you can independently size and choose different fonts to use with out having to set up three separate text lines, align them, etc. Free download...

Well, and to be fair - my remark was based off only viewing the trailer, once. Didn't have a chance to read anything, I was just remarking on what I think is going on, from the images therein. gelder

Up to 19, already - trailer looks interesting. I like (what I think is) the concept. Good luck! gelder

archived-videos Funny Or Die - "The Communicator"

Thanks much! Language is another one of those subjective things, imo. I'm all right working with profanity, but I think you can do as much, or more, without it. But, I wasn't brought in to re-write the script; I just had to try to make it pace properly and give it the right sense of...

Thanks! Yes, it was Mongolia, and USN, are you crazy? That's a call to Mongolia - that has to cost at least three oxen..! gelder

It was not my script, and I basically agree with you on profanity - I worked mostly clean as a stand-up comic for years. Feels like a crutch, to me. But, thanks for watching and voting! gelder

story 3 minute silent film! Need a story.

Have one main character, and have them make a choice. Maybe there are two buttons a man is choosing between, and one of them will set his wife free, and one will kill her. You can show all of that through images: shots of the buttons, sweat on the man's brow, death devices rigged up and ready...

How's this idea for a faux documentary thriller.

If you're going to use a concept like that, why not say there's some new micro-camera technology, and the camera is in the cop's glasses? That way, you can shoot people's faces, and maybe get some interesting shots of things coming towards his face - fists, etc. Also, if the glasses are knocked...

Do you think it's possible you'd get more votes if you made the voting private, instead of keeping it in the thread? Seems like some people might be reluctant to publicly vote for a video over one of their friend's, and so on... gelder

Using improv in an entire film

It depends on your goal, too. I was involved in an entirely improvised short film, but it was shot mockumentary style, so it was more the case of a single character improvising some scenes, but mostly sit-down interviews in the typical documentary style. For that, we had a few questions in...

Well, it's against my Midwestern upbringing to nominate myself, normally, but this seems like an interesting concept for a thread, so... From 2006, this is my short film, "Checking In". http://www.imdb.com/video/wab/vi2665742617/ Hmmm...no idea how to link to the video on imdb... i'm...
