    Prodco logo/title graphic show off

Thanks for all the compliments, really the work of the young man who did it. We will continue to work on it and get it fancier for the opening credits. 'Broken Back Mountain' doesn't quite roll off the tongue as well as 'Broke Back...' We can get some space in there to make sure people...

    Prodco logo/title graphic show off

Awesome! Thank you. It's actually Broke Helix. It used to be Broken Helix, then I was sitting around stone broke a few years ago and I though, you know, until we get some funding to make these films and TV shows we are "Broke Helix."

sales-options Writing a Spec Script with intent to sell

Here's one of those pitch videos for an example. I am not represented by this manager, anymore. Not even sure if he's still around. This was for a larger, tentpole drama feature... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAxKF2mgBtU

sales-options Writing a Spec Script with intent to sell

I didn't sell a spec, but I got in the batter's box with some studios and got some reads by some of the biggest in the business. I only got as far as I did by signing with a manager IN LOS ANGELES. I would say that is Step #2. You need somebody other than yourself to believe in your work who is...

    DIY Sound Absorption

Can someone elaborate on this "Rule of 70%?" regarding covering a wall?

    Prodco logo/title graphic show off

Still early in pre-production, but had to show somebody the title graphic an extremely talented young artist did for the TV/film prodco I am forming. Not sure how to put images in these threads, but here's the link I think...

    the digital "wobble"

I'm sure this is has been discussed before. What is the solution to "the wobble" when moving the camera quickly?

How many screenplays are you working on at any one time?

Boy, I couldn't imagine working on more than one screenplay at a time. I do one at a time, but it usually goes very quickly. I got about 10-12 film screenplays I'm satisfied with, and they usually take me about 10 days to 2 weeks from the first kernel of an idea to final draft. But I can go 6...

    Copywriting in-film logos?

I got a couple of images for the TV series I'm developing, one for a fictional corporation in the series I had somebody create and the other is the main title graphic I designed myself. Obviously in real-world business you do not copyright a logo - it is a trademark - anybody know if the images...

Where in the Hell Does ANYONE Get $150 Million??

Studios do not finance individual films, from my limited understanding. They go to film finance companies with a slate of films and get a large block of financing ($100-$500 Million). That way the films "hedge" one another, most lose money, a couple break even and 1-2 hit. In other words, they...

tv-writing Feedback Wanted: Historical Sci-fi TV Pilot

Work on an original hook. I love reading about history myself, but the unfortunate fact is nobody is that interested in it, so it needs something to relate it to modern cell phone-using, car-driving world. Heck, even History Channel isn't about history, anymore. I never saw Star Gate, but it...

    Go get 'em, new writers!!!!!

Resign yourself to the fact you will never be as intelligent as a first-time director; never have a better sense of story than a Hollywood creative exec; and always be less important on the set than the guy who brings the donuts, but always follow your bliss and may Calliope plant a big kiss on...

    Power for locations

Last HOWEVER, it may be possible to remove generator/inverter noise from film, I don't know that much about that side of things.

    Power for locations

The Honda EU1000i is probably the quietest generator there is, however, it is not completely silent and if you get it too far away the power cords will trip your breakers. If you are recording sound I would use some deep cycle marine batteries, another HOWEVER, is you would need an inverter to...

Why Creatives Don't Succeed in 9-to-5 jobs

I can see both sides of the argument. I was a carpenter for 25 years before I succeeded as an entrepreneur and had time for my art. Personally, I think that work ethic helps my writing.

    SFX forum

Oh, interesting. I did not know costumes were considered separate from SFX. There may be some cross-over, as the costumes have gizmos. But I also have a couple of vehicles and weapons to do. I'll see what the pros say.

Resources for pitching TV pilot to investors

I did qualify the statement by saying it was my opinion and experience. Everybody should do what works best for them to get their projects done on time and budget.

Thanks, I am not farming out sets and props to a production company. It is an area I would like to learn more about myself.
