Feedback on a short script, involves creatures and a soldier.

Firstly this is still a work in progress, a first draft. The short in its current form ends in a similar way to The Grey leaving the character's fate unknown. Don't hold back with the feedback, good or bad I'd like to hear it. I have a thick skin so fire away :)

archived-videos Check out my short film!

I liked this. The part where you trip over the shoe was funny and what made it even funnier is that you didn't clean up the spill you just went back and refilled your glass, so that made me laugh and was a nice addition because quite often people will show them doing something done in real life...

VoXDrop - how to turn Drama into Comedy?

You could perhaps make his physical appearance completely go against the voice he has. In this way you could create scenes where someone may feel intimidated by him until he actually starts to speak to them and then they cease to be intimidated - this could be done in a way so that the audience...

    archived-videos Mystery/Drama "Short" Film

I think the film picked up it's pace towards the end. The length of the short in and of itself isn't a problem but coupled with pacing issues that length begins to feel longer than what it is. I think that it would have been more effective if the kidnapper was at the poker table too and not...

archived-videos Check out our Psychological Horror Short Film!

The positives: The laughter is creepy. The moments where it becomes "fuzzy" and the sound of static is heard. The lighting in the beginning inside the apartment. The reveal of blood on his hands. The very last shot of the short. The downside: Some of the dialogue didn't seem like it was...

    Is Inception underrated?

Personally I feel both of the terms underrated and overrated are only applicable in a subjective way, even taking into account whether a certain website(s) has tallied positive and negative comments, ratings and other elements of review, and whether the overall total is positive or negative -...

    Stargate Reboot Trilogy

I never watched the series past the first few episodes so for me I think it's great that the movie is going to get follow ups, as I never really gained any interest in the television series.

How do I get these two to work together peacefully?

I think when it comes to relationships and the job or major interest either party has, if you're not with someone who shares your dreams and goals, doesn't understand the complexities, doesn't understand the pressures, the sacrifices, challenges, and all the other random unforeseen events that...

Will this be copying James Bond too much..?

Maybe each one of them is referred to by a single word, for example one of them might be referred to simply as Ball, one might be referred to simply as Trap, one might be referred to simply as Drink. Maybe none of them know anyone's name nor a code-name, and they've never seen one another so...

    Twist Endings

Some great discussion going on here! The Sixth Sense works as a film even knowing the ending because, as I mentioned with my experience with Shutter Island, you are looking for ways to trip the film up by analysing every little detail shown, which in turn allows you to notice things you didn't...

    Will Hollywood read my Script?

I'd like to chime in on some thoughts about horror as a genre. What Directorik says about there being a lot of good horror films since the release of 1999's Blair Witch Project is very true, and as a genre it has gone through many ups and downs over the decades so when it's in a slump it doesn't...

    Twist Endings

I had the ending of Shutter Island spoiled for me before watching the movie but when I finally decided to watch the film I was trying to see the clues throughout the film until the twist is revealed, as an exercise, and there were many things I didn't notice, one of which is a character fumbling...

    Twist Endings

Thanks for the responses, what has been posted makes complete sense. From a story construction stand point what do you think it's better to do - construct the narrative from beginning to the end where the twist (if the twist comes in at the end, it may arrive earlier) will occur or work...

    Twist Endings

What are people's opinions on twist endings? Does anyone feel they are like flashbacks in the sense that they have become a cliche story telling technique? I think the best films that have pulled off the twist ending are Seven, The Sixth Sense and the very first Saw film, to name a few. I feel...

Coming up with a title for your "baby"

Most of the time as soon as I come up with an idea for a story I will first come up with a title, which may change later. A good thing to do when you come up with a title is to check on a site like imbd or just use google to find out if your title has already been used, and if you feel you want...
