    Covering up those walls!

Hm? You can't begin as a quality short. A lot of things go into making a short of quality work. A good production designer can be a large step towards that. A good director alone can't make a good short, filmmaking is a collective.

    Covering up those walls!

Meet someone. We live in 2016, make a post on craigslist or something. A production designer can easily be one of the biggest differences in the final product that seperates you from an "indie" short and a quality short.

editing Colour correction before or after LUT? Premeire Pro CC

If you're using an in-camera LUT, like Cinestyle, it's like taking a Rec 709 recorded video and converting it to LOG, you didn't actually gain anything. Your camera has to actually have the native ability to record footage in LOG to benefit from it. LOG -> Rec 709 = More range. Rec 709 -> LOG...

announcement Good things coming in 2016

Oh heyyyyyy IT, could this new and improved forum perhaps also include a larger inbox than 10.... I understand it's a premium upgrade incentive... but like.... 10? That's super small bro...

What is meant by this term

I would assume that she meant the dialogue seemed like it was written for the screen. I've heard that a common flaw in new writers is that they have a problem making dialogue seem pseudo-real. Instead of writing the way people actually speak, everything is said as if they were written...

Most effective way of marketing and promoting your movie ?

Word of mouth is the only guaranteed option for an indie with no established base. Your trailer won't get to anyone if no one hears about it. As someone above said, the projects he was on with 100+ people did better.

Finished "Film" and Business School - Got questions?

Ummm... Actually, did your school teach you about umbrella corporations? I'm kinda curious if an LLC can be used as an umbrella corporation and somehow state that another named company is a subsidiary of them and not having to have that subsidiary also have to apply for an LLC. Like linking...

Complete newbie - question about film hosting

.MP4 for YouTube. Vimeo I'm not sure their requirements, but if you're uploading there it's just to show other filmmakers and you'll want the Pro account. H.264 No offense to chris, but don't do it based on your region or if you want the film look. You're using novice film software, and...

    Credit Adjustments for Proper Funding

Actually I'm going to disagree with directorik, although I completely understand his view on it. If I saw a film on Kickstarter that was done by two guys and they were asking for funding, I would much rather see they have 20 some people who have helped this project come along, rather than just...

editing Colour correction before or after LUT? Premeire Pro CC

That's not always the case. In fact, if you're applying a LUT and calling it your color correction and exporting, you've shot yourself in the foot. LUT to go from LOG C to Rec 709 isn't color correction, it's simply a color conversion between color space. Correction goes FAR beyond that...

    Community Project

I've just watched this thread... been curious to see the outcome since the start... Uhhh since time has passed so much. Any chance a kind of "Status Update" can be made? Like a what has been done and what still needs to be done?

    Film Business Plan Online Course.

I'll second this. But that's only a sad beast to people who haven't had the reality check that being a director isn't the only part of filmmaking.

I have a friend who is... a known programmer, I'll hit him up with the question the next time I see him haha... that kind of integration could make forums come back in fashion.

Purchasing a script VS. Writing your own.

Man... I remember a guy came to the forum once with like five scripts. Posted all of them for us to read... one was called "I Swear, Inc". I wanted that script so badly, it fit perfectly with my style. It had strong meta. (They are shorts, I make them for people that appreciate the meta, fuck...

What to do in order to make better movies

"What to do in order to make better movies", did that seem like clickbait Sweetie? If he hadn't plugged a video, how in the world would we have answered his question? That link stops this from being a "How long is a piece of string?" thread. He gave us something to evaluate and judge him...
